In my Samsung HCM4215W I replaced the color module with :
Brand
Description
Part Number
Samsung
Samsung BP95-00142E Convergence Board
BP95-00142E
from partstore.com but the problem was not corrected; but it did change the problem. Did I use the correct part? The problem seems to be that the red and green are aligned but the blue is out of alignment. When I changed the part, I had a green that was out of alignment and was unable to adjust it.
You will need to put the unit into wahts called service mode because it will have to totally realigned since you change the whole module you changed the chip that had you stored memory setting for convergence called an EEPROM. here in the shop I would unsolder the old EEPROM and put it on the new BOARD. Also on most models you don't have adjustments for the green you have to move red and blue to match green. Imay want you to describe again to me what you can adjust now with the new board in the unit can you move all colors left right and up/down
do you have a meter you can check for me on the old board you have in now 2 pico fuses location# FD101 AND FD102. they should read shorted. if 1 or both of these are open you may just want to change the convergence ic's that are on the new board to the old board that is ussually all that is wrong and you would not nee to do much if any realignments. but first let me knnow if you can if these fuses are open
both of those are circuit protectors same as a fuse, The option you have since you have the new module is to remove the parts you need from the new board and replace them on the old board which has your eeprom settings still stored in it so your adjustments are still their and may only need a touch up. you should see 2 big STK IC'S mounted on large metal heat sinks. these are whats bad and since u have both fuses open(meg ohm is open/bad also) both of them are bad. after that change the circuit protectors at this point you may or may not have some resistors open these are the parts with colored bands around the part sometimes they will be burned or discolored when thier bad. usually the ones that are bad are nearest the stk ic's and will read 2.2 or 3.3 or maybe 4.7ohms. you can try just changing the stk's and fuses and see if that is all you need if youcan adjust everything your ok if not you have some resistors open
very strange that they would take out fuses and put jumper wires in their place, the jumper wires would not offer any protection from the IC's shorting out. I would rather see you put 2 new circuit protectors back in but you could use the jumper wires if you have no other choice. your short will bw gone after you change the 2 big IC's. Look around on the new board and see if they have 2 circuit protectors on the new board just in different location. also since you seem to have some differences ion the new vs old board make sure that the 2 IC's we are changing are the same on the new board as the old board. if not let me now the actual numbers on the parts so I can determine if they sub/cross to each other.
is the bowtie effect the same on all 3 colors?
OK here is what I think on this model should put you in technician's service mode. NOW KEEP THIS IN MIND THERE ARE CHANGES YOU CAN MAKE IN HERE AND THE TV WILL SHUTOFF AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TURN IT BACK ON WITHOUT CHANGING THE EEPROM SO MAKE SURE YOU ARE IN THE CONVERGENCE/GEOMETRY ADJUSTMENT AREA. Ok also when finish alignments don't forget to save new data.--service mode below:
With The Set Running Press Mute, 1, 8, 3
Add/Erase Saves
7,8,9 Turn Colors Off
Bottom Number Row Selects Color
4 Toggles Line Mode On And Off.
Menu And S Mode Move Cursor.
sounds like you just need to adjust top and bottom "BOW"
good luck

Right now, I still have the old board back in, I can align the red to the green in all places. I can't align the blue in the center and left side. With the new module I can move the blue and red as needed but the green is out of whack and, as you stated, the green is not an option to move. How do I put the unit into "service mode".? Is it possible I installed the wrong part?
OK, FD102 is reading open; FD101 is around 7 M-Ohm.
ok the new board is a bit different (but I was reassured that it was the correct replacement part from partstore.com), in the places where FD101 and 102 are; it is labeled J127 and J128 and they are both just straight wires from the appearance. Do I still use those two?
I replaced both ICs and the two FDs with the jumpers. The picture was better and I was able to manually adjust the alignment but there is still a slight bowtie in the center so there is more i need to do. I will check the part numbers and post them later.
The old ICs STK392-040 and sub#B2G08. The new ICs are also STK392-040 but sub# is B7k05.
Yes the bowtie seems to be all colors. basically narrow in the center wide on the outside.
OK, in service mode it is clear that the green is distorted. Grid appears contracted in the middle giving the appearance of being "farther away" than at the edges. This resulted in the bow; I guess i had adjusted the other two to match it. The blue and red grid are perfect. The green does not move up/down only moves side to side. I can move the others in full or line mode in any direction. Thanks for sticking with me.
