Question about Gestetner DSm635 Copier

How to Network the scan function of a Gestetner DSm635

I need to network the scan function of a Gestetner DSm635 grayscale printer/copier/scanner to an office of computers. This machine is already networked to print. My IT department told me that networking the scanner was not possible which doesnt make any sense. How can I network this scanner.

Most IT departments don't know how. They won't admit that but it is true. You already print to the thing so all that has to happen is setting up SMB shares on the computers and telling the scanner where to scan. Your very best option would be to contact your printer repair company and ask if they have a connectivity or networking specialist that could help you. If they are a good company they may even call your IT people and help them help you. And of course nothing technical comes for free.

The only real problem would be finding the software driver for your machine.When your driver for your scan function is loaded it will assign an IP address for the scanner.without the software,your out of luck.I'll look online tonight for it and let you know if I find it.

Have you considered installing the scan tools on the other computers? Print sharing is a function of windows; assuming that the printer is not a true network printer. Windows does not have the ability to share scanners. But this is where the software can scan the network and find a HP scanner. Also some scanners can perform a "scan-to" function; but I believe the software need to be installed on the destination computers for this to work as well.

I dont have much experience with this model. But i think you dont need any driver for scanning.
Use the network. It is much easy for you and for all users.

hold the power button for 15 sec. for a system reset. Try to remove each panel that opens and check for broken pieces of paper Recycle the system by reinstalling the software once again. If you getting error codes then follow this We need to clear out these error codes stored in your printer NVRAM or memory! Shut down the printer and pc associated with it. Remove data cable and reinstall the software for this printer, press and hold the power button on the printer for 15 seconds, then reconnect the printer after software installation is successful. This process will clear the error codes that you keep receiving

We have two copier canon iR3225 and iR2022n. We got problem in scan in server2003 software while colour scan gear is installed. Server2003 is not detect the scanner.

Is the copier connected in the network or thru USB? Because Colour Network ScanGear is used when copiers are connected to the network.
If it is connected to the network, run Network ScanGear Tool and search for connected scanner in the network. Or you can use the IP Address of the copier to find it on the network.
Use 3rd party software or any other software that have scanning/import function (e.g. Photoshop).

How to install the scanner

use the scanner manual. It slides in to the board on the side of the machine where you printer and network connection are. Turn you copier OFF and unplug. Remove the screws from the print card unit unit on the machine where the network cable connects. you need to have the machine set up as a printer before you can install scanning. The scan card slides into that board

Trying to hook up a gestetner dsm415pf directly to a laptop so the scanner will work. The printer already works fine

pf stands for print/fax. As far as i know it should not be able to scan but you can try the twain driver using a network cable.But don't think it will work.

sorry but our panasonic dp-8035 is only black&white document scanner.

How to scan a doc on Gestetner Copier

You can install the Twain scanning driver which is provided on the Printer driver CD. Insert this CD and select to install the Twain driver only.
After installation od this driver, please open Word document and click on Insert, Picture and select from Scanner or Camera. Check and choose your twain scanner driver and click on insert.
Beforehand you must put the original on the exposure glass.
Try this or you can use scan to email but you need more setup details.
