Unfortunately you need the original remote. There is still a good chance you can find a Sanyo universal remote. Check your local Circuit city or Super K mart or Walmart and look inthe electronics sections. I have often seen the Sanyo universal remote! And yes it will have the options you are looking for. Good Luck!
I had the same problem and had to order a replacement remote off eBay. There are plenty of them on there. The one you want for your TV is: SANYO T.V. REMOTE CONTROL Model FXWC. Search for that and you'll find what you need. Mine cost $15.00 including shipping. There appears to be no other way to do what you are trying to do.
Go into the setup menu and turn off closed captioning there, or just restore the factory presets. I believe this model has a menu button on the front of the tv.
You didn't ask for it, but here's a link to the user manual, in case you need it.
maybe your connection is wrong, look at back of your dvd player and find the yellow socket and that's a video the red and white is for the sound. using the color coding connect your dvd to tv, be sure that the terminal that you use is audio/video input
Try having it exchanged for another. May be a faulty remote. Also make sure the batteries are not flat. Otherwise may not be compatible as prescribed. Good Luck, Regards, JUS004
