Acer Travelmate 2410 with display probs

I've recently installed a new xp & ubuntu onto this std laptop and all was working fine for a few days. Next thing I k**w is when I boot up the screen display is best described as funky (when booting up the Acer appears in low def, when the screen displays black there is green shadows to the right of the characters, and when I boot into firefox the white background appears pink. When I highlight the text it turns purple). This seemed to sort itself out after 30mins but then reverted to this strange colour scheme. I've tried to uninstall the vga driver thinking this was the problem but to ** avail. I **ticed a similar problem with a**ther user but was wondering if perhaps this may be the graphic card burning out or a cable issue running from the lcd to the motherboard? I am going to plug this into a**ther lcd to check but any further info would be appreciated. Thanks

Could be the screen is running with the wrong colour depth and resolution - reset the settings by right clicking on the screen selecting properties and then adjust on the settings tab.

Acer travelmate 4100 works fine with no battery

Try to use another OS, like Ubuntu Live, and see if the mouse and KB will freeze. If they wont freeze, It is better to reinstall the OS.

If they will freeze again with Ubuntu, then I am sorry to tell you that the battery life has finished.

The only thing to do is to replace it for another one new.

Hi this is prince here from Bangladesh. i have a laptop that is acer travel mate 420. a few days ago its display is not working properly. some times it turn into various color. so what can i do?

Hi Prince, has your laptop experienced a squeeze or fall recently? I have a few suggestions. Plug another monitor into the VGA or DVI connection on your laptop. See if you are getting the same problem. If everything is working fine on the external monitor you would have eliminated the drivers being the problem. I suggest getting the LCD display changed. If your laptop is under warranty, you can get this done for free. However, if it is not under warranty you may have to replace it either yourself or take it to a local Acer specialist. If you chose to install the new display yourself, there are handy tutorials on removing and installing the screen on the Acer website. I have noticed that many times the Acer TravelMate Notebooks have experienced display issues. I hope you get your problem resolved soon.
