The upright freezer stopped freezing suddenly. It makes a faint sound when plugged then it stops running. The compressor gets warm but it does not freeze. The thermostat seems to be working when going between 1 and 6. I tested the the black and red wires of the thermostat with a multimeter. They connect at any number and disconnect at off position. Is the compressor dead?

Hi, It sounds as though the compressor has stopped working on this unit. I would call the department of consumer affairs and give them the information that you do have and they will make sure you get you're warranty honored. They do not mess around!! Just get the number through you information number and they will get right on it as that is what they are there for. Keep me posted,

Our FranklinChef model FCFW88 also stopped running. It is less then a year old. There is no # to call for warranty repair. When plugged in, no motor or compressor comes on? Ruined all the food. Anyone else have the same issue? [email protected]

My freezer does not keep my ice cream hard, yet it freezes meats, etc. without a problem. What is wrong?

You don't note whether or not you've adjusted the thermostat. Ice cream (and juices) requires at least zero degrees, if not minus 5 degrees, for storage. Meats, fish, bread, etc. can become rock hard at much higher temperatures. Try setting the thermostat lower.

Well an old remedy is to put a box of opened arm and hammer baking soda in the freezer and fridge to keep it from having bad odors.If that doesn't work you can try some charcoal it is perfect for absorbing odor, just don't use the matchlight kind or it will smell like lighter fluid.

you can turn the temperature dial to zero or you can unplug it. dont worry about warming up beverages but perishable from your fridge into a cooler
