Wharfedale DVD recorder, no sound. Scart lead connected to Sky Box & scart connection to TV. Picture OK & can play DVD's or record to HD but no sound.

  • Anonymous Mar 18, 2010

Surely if I had scarts leads in wrong sockets I wouldn't get any picture?

  • Anonymous Mar 18, 2010

No, with just scart lead from DVD recorder to TV & playing a DVD there is a good picture.

With a scart lead from Sky box to DVD recorder & scart lead from DVD recorder to TV I can see & record whats on Sky & play back but no sound.

HI if you mean scart connectors on rear of DVD recorder, try swapping scart inputs on DVD recorder and if no joys then on set top box. (some units have 1 input designated for TV and the other for Set top box input)

HI, Next question then, can you watch your sky box via your Recorder and get good picture and sound. i.e. what you see will be what you record

Buy 2 hdmi leads and use one to connect sky TV decoder to the hdmi 1 socket on the back of the TV and if your DVd recorder has an hdmi socket attach it to hdmi 2 or leave it on the scart socket
as you don't name your dvd recorder the connections available are unknown
hdmi is the best followed by component which requires a 3 cable lead 3 video (video is red green blue plugs ) audio is red and white which is a 2 wire lead which all are needed to get video and audio to your TV

I cant get dvd recorder to record ext 2

Firstly, is the scart lead plugged in fully? Does it get the sound or nothing?
Is the recorder sitched to the correct input? It may be trying to pull a signal from the TV which may not be passing through the picture from the sky box.
Also, is the scart lead fully wired? Some only work one way so try spinning it round between the recorder and sky box.

Cannot tune -in my panasonic vcr. it plays tapes but will not record. I have wired together the tv, sky box and vcr in what seems the obvious way (and every alternative) but no joy so far. can you help?

The main aerial goes into the vcr,a fly lead then comes out of the vcr into the tv,a scart lead from av1 on the vcr into the tv.If you want to record from sky and the vcr has two scart sockets then connect a scart lead from the sky into av2 on the vcr, when you record from sky you select av2 on the vcr as your record channel

Connecting a dvd 250gb hard drive recorder to tv and virgin box

Right then, on the back of the virgin box there are 2 scart outlets, connect one scart from the TV scart port to the scart in on the DVD recorder, then connect one scart lead from the scart out on the DVD recorder to the TV.
Find the DVD recorder source channel on the TV and then use the DVD remote control to find the digital input on the DVD recorder, this is usually AUX channel.

Sir I have just acquired a Sony DVD recorder model no. RDR-GX350. I have an LG LCD TV and a Sky HD Box and I have connected the recorder to the TV with an 'S' lead and I can play a DVD, I can't set up the...

Thanks, but no thanks, in the long run it is better to get a technician in to sort it, more expensive yes, but not so traumatic as trying to deal with someone by typing in answers to questions, the man I dealt with assured me I had two scart plugs on my TV. I only have one, so he said it can't be done, end of story.

Souud delay on tv /amp

Instead of connecting each device (sky&dvd rec.) to the TV separately, I would simply hook up the sky to dvd recorder (connect the sky output and dvd recorder input), and then connect the dvd recorder output (must be called "play out") to one of the available recorder inputs (which could be a dvr, an empty tape input, etc)of your amp. However, you'll still have to establish a feedback between your dvd recorder and your amp. Therefore, if the dvd rec. supports it, you'll have to hook up the rec.out, which is on your amp.,to rec.in on your dvd recorder. After all these audio connections, you will only need to make a video connection among the sky, dvd rec., and tv. Get a video cable to hook up the sky video output to your dvd recorder's video input, then do the same thing between the dvd recorder's tv output and tv.
