Could be that a gear is missing (broken) on the shaft that works the 2nd and 4th gear.Check that the gear on the shaft that the clutch gear engages with does not have a sheared key. if u find the broken part you may yout replace them to work fine.
if u have mechanical aptitude u can do it easily.

although below link does not contain your product model , u can still take help if u have problems

hello! Yes, I understand...It is working with 2 speeds instead of 4 because the select switch is defective...My reference to the timer control board was for location purposes only...

if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask............saailer

Hello! My goal is to provide the best service possible...The mixer is a 20 quart Hobart...The top two speeds are non-functional...Is this correct?

The speed selector assembly is mounted behind the timer control...The left hand knob sets the speed...the speed switch (part # 00-874831) is held in place by a mounting screw and more likely then not is defective...

I can send a link to a free pdf parts manual, for your mixer, If you would like one...

You have given a two thumb rating, Could you tell me what I missed?

No model given, 'Legacy' is a range of mixers.

'Er1' is a memory error. Page 3 refers.

Agitator on Hobart HL-200 keeps sticking after adding wet ingredients. The agitator arm always stops at the same position 8 o'clock. What is causing the agitator arm to stick/stop?

It could be 2 things.

Either a shear pin has sheared and the paddle is sticking at the same spot.
or
The is a nylon cog inside that has lost teeth and it sticks there.

The only way to diagnose is to take it apart. It is a very MESSY job full of grease and oil.

Hobart Legacy HL200 stopped working?

That is a $10k to $20k mixer, depending on where you buy it. I have used one of these. Unfortunately, grinding noises that result in the motor stopping can be fixed with a power disconnect.

Grinding noises = dry bearings, to seized bearings, to shredded or stripped gears. You need a Hobart Service Tech.

Bowl lift lever on hobart HL200 loose, i can actually pull it out. There is a hole in the lever where it looks like a pin should be there to secure it. What can i do?

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1026745/Hobart-Hl200.html

Looks to be a drift pin missing. See parts diagrams in above manual.

Why is oil leaking down into the mixing bowl on the Hobart HL200 Mixer

There is a leaking gasket. The OIL is from the Grease applied to the gears. It may have somewhat turned a portion of lube to a liquid state due to heat within the motor housing during use. The OIL as you put it, could also leak out from the port where you insert the beaters. If so there is also a set of seals to prevent that from happening, and if they are worn or damaged, leaking can occur. This unit needs a professional serviceman to fix the problem.

Hobart Legacy HL120

I haven't ever worked on these units. But from looking at the parts catalog, (pg 4) and considering your failure, I would suspect you have a bad speed control. And being that it is a potentiometer, it's pretty likely to be the cause. (Item #1)

http://www.hobartlink.com/extranet/extranetmanualsandcatalogs.nsf/0420EE614011415A85256FE2004E0FFA/$File/F43101%20Rev%20A_lk.pdf

I would ask Hobart, but I doubt any special tools would be required. (NO splicing, crimping, or soldering)

I hope this helps - Mike
