that's sounds like a Mitsubishi projection tv get a new bulb that's what ya need they are mercury so be careful, and another thing make sure all screws are put back in tight safety features will stop tv from staying on or sometimes powering if just one screw is not put back in in the bulb area and on the front just saved you 100.00 bucks
Hold down the menu and the input buttons on the front at the same time for 5 seconds. Led will flash a 2 digit code repeatedly. reply back with this code. If the set has been unplugged after failure code will be erased.
I gave this advice to someone with this same problem so here it is again:
It sounds like your shutdown circuit is being activated. This is due to excess current being drawn. This usually happens in the High Voltage section of the TV or one of the deflection stages. Due to the nature of this problem I would suggest that you take it to a local TV repair shop or have a TV repair person come out and take a look at the issue. The HV section is dangerous and should be dealt with by a qualified TV repair technician.
Bad convergence IC possible - It's cheap if you do it your self, expensive if you take it to a repair shop. My Toshiba finally came on and stayed on after the IC's burned completely up and smoke poured out the back. Then mine stayed on with a distorted image.
