I want to change the default setting for DST on my Smartset CKS2237 in order to match up with the new schedule beginning in 2007.

My clock is no longer "smart" . . . what do I do to get to time to automatically change on the correct week and day?

I gather that a solution to the "new daylight savings time" problem is not forthcoming. I have not seen one answer. I also thought of changing the default to central time (like the other person suggested), but I don't see any answers to that either. I guess "ya can't fix it!" LOL

Have lost my manual. Can anyone tell me the Zone # so that my phone will NOT change to daylight savings time??? I'll do it manually when the right time comes!!!

    Thanks.

How do I get my smart alarm clock to reset itself automatically since the goverment changed the daylight savings time? Or, if I buy a new one will it have the new time changes?

The Daylight Saving Time settings are not user controlled, so you cannot convert the changeovers to the new schedule - you can only change the time manually. Any new clock or clock radio with automatic settings will work on the new schedule.

Need to update daylight savings time date

This is from the Timex FAQs site:

Q: My clock did not update for DST.
A: We apologize but there is no patch available. Consumers must change clocks manually. Due to newly enacted government regulations, effective this year you must change the time manually, since the calendar was programmed to change according to the time DST issued by the government, it will not recognize the change after 2007. Now the time must be changed 4 times. Press & hold the time set button until the time flash, then release it and press the ff >> or << rev buttons.

There is a solution for this already. You can reprogram the clock to use the new DST settings.

Emerson Smartset Radio Model CKS2288

The Daylight Saving dates appear to be hard-coded per the manual:

Start of Daylight Saving Time:
At 1:59.59 AM on the first Sunday in April, the clock will automatically advance to 3:00 AM.
End of Daylight Saving Time:
At 2:59.59 AM on the last Sunday in October, the clock will automatically reset to 2:00 AM.

So the easiest thing to do is to change your time zone up or down one for the period between the new DST date and the old -- or you can buy a new SmartSet for about $15. The newer ones do not have the same problem.

Turning daylight saving time OFF

If DST is *already* set to "on" when you reset the time zone to Z-07 (Hawaii), my very recent experience is that the time *still gets adjusted back* by one hour.  Now that daylight savings time is over (at least according to the clock's pre-programmed and outdated schedule) I'm hoping that setting the time zone to Z-07 (Hawaii) will completely cancel the automatic time changes from now on.  Otherwise, I need to purchase another clock, and it won't be a Timex.
