I need to get the pip screen i think its called off of the regular picture on the tv how do i do that because i dont even know how it poped up since the remote broke and i have a universia remote that doesnt heve that capibility

You will need to either find a Sony remote with the PIP off button or a Sony remote with a RESET button. Borrow from a neighbor if needed. The newer TVs do not have a reset button, but the old ones do. The PIP OFF is self-explanatory... The RESET button method requires you to do this: With the TV on, point the remote at the TV and press and hold the RESET button on the remote, then press the power button on the TV. The TV we do a factory reset.

Small screen inside of screen

I think you might be referring to what's called, 'picture in picture (PIP). Its a feature of the TV that allows one to see what is on other channels while your current channel stays on the screen. Refer to your manual of how to disable, or if no manual, play with the remote to see what button eliminates it.

I am getting the pip but not regular picture. Sound no picture.

It could be as simple as your remote going bad try useing the buttons on the TV to make your TV go from PIP to regular screen. If this solves it then its your remote. If not you could have a defective IC chip or switching device such as a transistor

Black square on screen that covers half the picture appeared on my 42" sharp aquos tv.

sounds like you might have PIP turned one (picture in picture) .. if there is no input hooked up for the PIP . you will just get a black screen ... you should be able to move that PIP around and change its size .. indeed turn it off .. look for a menu item called PIP .. select PIP off ..

My JVC PIP Won't work, pls help!

I was told that in order to view 2 different channels at the same time u have to subscribe to SKYCable and use the digital input instead of the antenna input and the antenna input you will have to use the regular antenna since there is only one tuner in the TV

What you have described there is a classic example of the jungle IC failure. Ic301 Sony p/n 8-752-101-04. A pic with no color, and lines or grainy texture in the picture. Not a project you want to tackle if you don't have the proper soldering equipment or skills. And not a costly one at a good repair shop.. Only real hurdle is getting that heavy monster into the shop. To answer your question, yes what you described there is raster. Even the salt & pepper looking screen with no real decernable image is described as raster. In fact any image generated on the CRT is raster. And yes, these sets are prone to solder joint problems, usually ring cracking in circuits that generate the most heat.

That sounds about right my friend. Those sets do have two tuners and Ive seen the problem your desribing. Unless of course that the microprocessor and tuning circuits are goos also. I would call a servicer if I were you unless yopu know your way around the inside of the tv set as it does have alot of High voltage even when its unplugged Good Luck
