Electrically, yes, you can. But you need several extra components because the protocol isn't USB; you can find a PS2 diagram here

http://www.wiringdiagrams21.com/2009/11/21/playstation-2-controller-cable-connector-pinout-diagram

and the electric scheme of a converter here

Ready-made adaptors which save both the hassle of cutting and soldering, and the risk of soldering it wrong (you can fry a motherboard with this trick) are available for around US$ 5 - US$ 7 on eBay.

Xbox Controller to USB Conversion

Did you know the Xbox controller has a USB interface built-in? How would you feel about playing your favorite PC games, with an Xbox controller?

Here is what you will need to get the job done:
  • Xbox Game Controller
  • Male USB Connector
  • Wire Strippers
  • Electrical Tape

1. Using a Male-Female USB extension cable, cut off the male USB adapter, along with a foot or more of cable.

2. You will need to cut off the connector on the Xbox cable, too.

3. Cut the Xbox connector off right at the base, leaving you some room to splice on the USB Male connector.

4. Now strip off about an inch of casing from the end of each exposed cable that we’ll be connecting. There will be a lot of thin silver wires and foil wrapped around a few smaller, colored wires. The silver casing is the shielding, just trim it back enough to expose the colored wires.

5. Using your wire strippers, pull away the casing on each of the colored wires to expose the bare wire.

6. Splice together each wire of the USB adapter to its matching colored wire on the Xbox controller. The Xbox controller has an additional yellow wire, which you can ignore. Use electrical tape to cover up the bare leads, or heat shrink tubing.

7. You should now be able to set up the device and start using it. The first thing to do is to download the XBCD drivers (download here), and run the installer file.

8. Once the drivers are installed, plug in the controller and it should detect and install the drivers for “XBCD XBox Gamepad”. Now go to Programs -> XBCD -> Setup Utility and set up your new gamepad!

I have a PS2 what are the USB ports for in front

You can put in things such as a keyboard and mouse (to play games like you would on the PC), a USB headset, a multitap device (which lets you connect up to four controllers), a USB flash drive, and the EyeToy, just to name a few.

Wired X-box controler problems

bend the cable and have a game playing so that you know when you hit a dead spot.mark the spot that is makeing it pause.go about 3cm above and below it.take a pair of scissors and cut at the points.strip the wires and twist them together.color goes with each other color green goes with green red goes with red.i used hot glue to keep them from falling apart.just have a little come out of the nozzle then stick the wire in the nozzle.rap it in electrical tape and test it out again for bad spots.if you want to you can take a old camera usb cable and strip both ends ad attach it to the xbox controller to make a xtended cable.if you make the extender cable don't worry about the yellow wire just leabe it out///trust me this works for i have did the usb mod to my xbox and cut of the original connector and put a regular usb on the end.i now use the controller to play halo on my comp. if you got any questions please email me at [email protected]

I want to splice a ps2 contoller with an xbox plug, so i can play my xbox with the comfort of my ps2 controller. but my ps2 controller has 8 wires and xbox only has 5 wires, so i need to get a wiring...

As far i know, that is not possible to splice a PS2 controller with an XBOX. As you said they have different wiring sets, so I highly doubt it will work.

PS2 to Computer

Even though I understand your question, some what, I have to ask, why on earth would you want to do this.

How can I connect my PS 2 to play through my computer?

We need more clarification then this question offers. It makes about as much sense as my question:

How can I connect my toaster to play through my computer?

I'm just being an *** :P Seriously though, we need to know what you mean by your question.

  1. Are you trying to control your PS2 through your computer?
  2. Are you trying to just connect it to your computer so you can access stuff on the ps2?
  3. Are you thinking that you can just connect your PS2 to your computer and use your computer to play games(wich you can't do, there is a much better method for this)
No one can help you unless you give us a question that is more clear on what you're trying to do. You can't just hook up a PS2 to your computer and play games on your computer with the disk in the PS2 drive. Nor would you want to. There is a much better solution for this. You get a piece of software called and emulator. Then you get a PS2BIOS.bin (fancy word for image of the PS2 firmware chip) then you put the game directly into your computers DVD-ROM drive. I have full instructions I have posted for someone else at the link below.

Logitech driving force ex adjusting sensitivity

Did you plug in both plugs? (The game controller and USB plugs)

I had thought that the USB end was for the PC and forgot that the PS2 has USB sockets, but plugging them both in made the wheel work properly.
