Hello,

Set the mode dial on the top of the camera to Tv.
Use the control dial on the back to change the shutter speed.
The aperture value is shown on the screen at the bottom.
If it is shown in red the picture will not expose correctly.
Adjust the dial until the value is white.

I hope this helps.

I just bought the minolta XG-A, will I be able to adjust manually the shutter speed? I just bought it only, still has not been shipped. I bought it mainly for a film photography class but I just read that...

Minolta XG-A can work in full manual mode. The lowest shutter speed is 1 second and it had Bulb mode where the shutter is open as long as you press the button.

How to set shutter speed in fuji fine pix S2940

That depends on the exposure mode. In any of the automatic point&shoot modes you have no control over the shutter speed, the camera sets what it thinks is the proper shutter speed. In the P (Program AE) mode you can adjust the shutter speed by pressing the +/- button. In the S (Shutter Priority) and M (Manual) modes you control the shutter speed by pressing the +/- button and then using the cursor-up/down buttons.

How do I change the shutter speed on a Nikon EM film SLR

The EM doesn't really have a manual shutter speed setting. It does have a Bulb setting for long exposures and a 1/90 second manual for flash, but otherwise the camera automatically sets the shutter speed to go with the currently selected aperture.

Normally you would set the aperture and let the camera set the shutter speed. You can adjust the shutter speed by pressing the exposure compensation button for +2 stops. You can also adjust the exposure by changing the ASA/ISO setting.

If you need a manual, you can download one from http://butkus.org/chinon/nikon/nikon_em/nikon_em.htm

How do you change the shutter speed on the finepix s5500?

That depends on the selected shooting mode.

In Program AE, press the exposure compensation button and then up/down on the 4-way button to change the shutter speed/aperture combination.

In Aperture Priority AE you can control the shutter speed indirectly. Press the exposure compensation button and then up/down on the 4-way button to change the aperture, and the camera will adjust the shutter speed to suit.

In Shutter Priority AE press the exposure compensation button and then up/down on the 4-way button to change the shutter speed. The camera will adjust the aperture to suit.

In Manual press the exposure compensation button and then up/down on the 4-way button to change the shutter speed. You'll have to press left/right on the 4-way button to select the appropriate aperture.

Adjust shutter speed

On most indoor shots the shutter speed will normally be 1/30 if you need or want it to be faster than that the only way to do that with this camera is to set the ISO to a higher value. Page 29 of your user manual explains how to set the ISO value for the camera to allow for faster shutter speeds.

Shutter Speed Adjustments

Use the M (Manual) or S (Shutter Priority) modes. See the manual for details on using these modes and setting shutter, aperture, etc.

Unfortunately, Panasonic's website is not properly linking to the user manual so I can't download the manual to provide you with the exact steps on how to set the shutter in the M or S modes.

Shutter speed won't go above 200

I have two possible solutions:

First, are you shooting with the flash up or an external flash connected to it? If so, the camera likely needs to synchronize at 1/200 or slower otherwise it won't be able to take a full photo. As a safety feature to prevent that, many new cameras just restrict the ability to pick a faster shutter speed.

Second, if its not related to the flash, it might be related to the mode you are using. Turn the camera off the automatic modes and put it on an all manual setting. Change the ISO to 400 or so, got outside and aim up at the day's sky, put it on manual mode and then adjust the shutter speed. Open up the aperture on your lens all the way (turn it to the smallest number). Now adjust the shutter speeds. It should be able to go past 200 now.

F-stop issues

See pages 36&37 of the manual.

If you haven't got one, you can download it here.

In M mode...

Turn the selector dial to adjust shutter speed.

Hold down the AV+/- button (top-right of rear screen) and turn selector dial to adjust aperture setting.

As for Av mode, this is perfectly normal that you cannot set the shutter speed. Av mode means that you decide on the aperture setting and the camera (not you!) decides on the correct shutter speed.

Hope this helps,

Matt.
