With a whirlpool front loader, the tray you put the washing powder in has 3 compartments what goes in which compartment

i don't know. for now, use liquid sparingly by poring it on to a thick wash cloth and throwing it in with your wash.

Simply place detergent into wash ball and place inside drum on top of clothes,,,,fabric softener goes in smallest compartment in tray

Sorry but I have to ask if you are putting the powder and softener into the correct compartments?
A quick and easy way to find out which tray is which is to pull the detergent drawer out just so that you can see into it. Start a pre-wash and see where the water runs in, then advance to the main wash and observe. Finally start a rinse cycle and where the water goes in is where the conditioner/softener goes.

In a few cases I have come across, the pre-wash tray shares with the conditioner/softener part but the pre-wash powder goes in the front and the softener in the back.

I am presuming you do not have a manual- most manuals can be obtained on-line. I think there is an advert somewhere on this site! No! No commission!

3 compartments - pre-wash powder, wash powder and finally conditioner/softener. As you do not say what make and model yours is we will 'cheat' a bit to find out which is which!
If you pull the drawer out just enough to be able to see into it, then put the machine on pre-wash for a few seconds you should be able to see into which compartment the water is running! Do the same with the main wash. You are then left with the conditioner one which, when you look at the whole drawer, one looks distinctly different from the other 2. With our Bosch it is in the middle but with our daughter's (can't remember which make it is!) the conditioner tray is on the right.

one compartment is likely for soap, one for bleach, one for fabric softerner. watch your machine as it goes thru the cycles & notice at which part of the cycle water runs thru each compartment to detrmine which is which. Then you will know what to put where.

The conditioner or rinse aid goes in the smallest of the 3 compartments, it sometimes has a cover in it.
The wash powder goes in the largest of the compartments

Detergent compartment
Add liquid or powdered detergent to this compartment for your
wash cycle. The detergent separator must always be in place,
either in the front or back position.

Do not fill beyond the “MAX” level.

Liquid or powdered color-safe bleach may be added to the
Main Wash compartment along with the same type of
detergent, liquid or powdered.

Liquid detergent: Put the SEPARATOR in the front position,
between the guides, as shown as shown by Position 1 below.
There will be no gap between the bottom of the wash cycle detergent
compartment and the bottom of the separator.

Powdered detergent:
Put the SEPARATOR in the back
position, behind the guides as shown by Position 1 below. There will be
a gap between the bottom of the wash cycle detergent
compartment and the bottom of the separator.


NOTE: The separator will be in the POWDER (back) position
when shipped from the factory.

Put it in tray B. You should see one end of what is a U shaped pipe (upside down) in the tray. The fab con should be put in the tray at the beginning of the wash cycle at the same time you fill the detergent tray.

Usually from left to right the main detergent / powder goes in the left compartment, the fab con in the centre compartment and the prewash / soaker / starch goes in the right side compartment.

According to my information the dispenser drawer has four separate compartments for adding laundry products to the wash load. These compartments are:
1. Prewash Detergent Compartment
2. Main Wash Detergent Compartment
3. Bleach Compartment
4. Fabric Softener Compartment

Laundry products are diluted and dispensed automatically
at the proper time during the wash cycle. The separator in the Prewash and Main Wash Detergent Compartment can be moved to accommodate either liquid or powdered detergents.

it only go's into that compartment on the very last rinse,you have,3 compartments .(1,hot )(2 cold)(3 softener)
