We purchased a gsp in december 2009 and the last trip we made the screen went blank and will not show the menu or anything, I bought an extended warranty on it but he never registered it now he doesn't know where the receipt is. can we still get it fixed under warranty

Had the same problem. i use mine all the time. what it was there is a fuse inside the gps. becarefull when u get it open remove the fuse, take it to radio shack and get a new fuse.

Try unplugging the power. With it unplugged, attempt to power it on and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Repeat this 30 second hold. Plug it back in and turn it on.
Where did you buy it? How long ago. We had an issue with our TV a year ago. We bought ours at SAM's Club. I took it back over a year after purchase. I had purchased the extended warranty. They told me to pick out a replacement, comparable TV. I got the same size TV, the new one was cheaper by $150. It was a better TV. They gave me the $150 on a gift card on top of the newer/better TV.
I have the i856w, with the same problem. It is a manufacturer defect. From sliding the screen up and down, the ribbon cable for the screen has a bald spot on it from rubbing against the frame of the phone, where it passes thru to connect to the main circuit board. A new ribbon cable would fix the problem and get your screen working again, however, the sharp edge of the fram would only rub away the new cable and you would be back in the same boat again with a blank screen. Maybe if you wrapped a small piece of electrical tape over the edge of the frame it would help with extending the life of the ribbon cable. Hope this answer reached you in time and helped you with possibly saving your phone, if you still have it that is.

Hi , I have the same problem with my LT-42X688,so i called the service of my extended warranty provider . the TV technician just left and told me the motherboard is the problem. he said its the third one this week he has seen with the same symptoms. he ordered the motherboard and i've got to wait 5 to 7 work days before the part will be in . I will keep you posted when the guy will return.
You should be able to collect on your warranty if you take the box. The box will have a sticker with a code , which should be enough to identify the product..

The camera turns on but the screen stays blank and I press any button and do not do anything no zoom no nothing and I press the menu button but neither nothing shows up just the blank screen
