The disc manager does not give the option to finalize the disk in black, it is gray. The camera is in playback, battery in or out does not make a difference.

To finalize the disk, you need to be in Camera mode (Not playback). And, make sure you have enough battery power to complete the process, or plug the AC Power adapter in ... (while finalizing the disk).

Hi, Need to provide power from ac charger of camera so disc finalize option will appear to finalize disc. Powering camcorder with battery wont give you Finalize option so use ac charger to get Finalize menu. Thanks.
Hi, Make sure that MiniDVD has been finalized in camcorder then it can be playback in any other DVD Player. Finalize option would be available in camcorder dvd setup menu, select it to finalize recorded mini dvd disc, please note UnFinalized mini dvd disc will only playback in camcorder because of its raw data and Finalization will validate this raw data so other dvd players will recognize this mini dvd disc for playback. If your mini DVD disk is a DVD-RW (or DVD+RW) and it had (previously) been finalized in the VR (or Video) mode, simply select the "unfinalize" option ... (in DISC - Camera mode, from the MENU - Disc Manager - Disc Unfinalize ) ... as in p. 82 of your manual.
If you do not want the video data on the DVD-RW disk anymore, you can simply re-format the disk again, so you can re-use the disk.
Do you get finalize option as grayed/ disabled? If yes then plug ac power adapter in camera and finalize the disc. Camcorder wont finalize on battery and need ac charger to perform finalize the disc.
All you should have to do is finalize the disc. Put it in your DVD drive and select the scenes and photos. you need to have DVD playback software to play the disc also if its a DUAL layer disc you have to make sure the drive in your PC can play DL. Enjoy, Lee
Make sure that the camcorder is plugged into the dc outlet, ie- plugged into the wall you can't finalize a disc just using the battery pack for the camera
Ok, Guest @ solution #1 and #3 solved this for me.
Step 1. remove battery pack.
Step 2. Plug in to outlet.
Step 3. Insert desired disc.
Step 4. Toggle down on the "mode" lever for "Play-back" mode.
Step 5. Press "function"
Step 6. Scroll to and select "menu"
Step 7. Scroll to and select "disc options"
Step 8. Scroll to and select "Finalize"
Step 9. Scroll to and select "Yes"
Follow prompts from there.
This worked for me.
