Password I have an acer aspire 5720. When I turn it on I am prompted to enter a password. I have not set a password. It has never done this before. Please help

The default root password for an Acer Aspire One running Linpus Lite is 111111
So open a terminal, and enter
Code: [Select]
and the password 111111 when asked.
your prompt should change from an $ to a #
If it's the user password you want to change, now enter:
Code: [Select]
you will be prompted for the new password twice

You'll need to get the into advanced mode - you'll see why once you've done it. To do this go to "Files" > "My Documents" to open the File Manager. Then go to "File" > "Terminal" (use the word menu at the top of the File Manager window.

Linpus Linux uses Xfce, so use "xfce-setting-show" to get the Xfce Settings Manager.
Click on "Desktop" to get to the "Desktop Preferences" and select the "Behavior" tab.
Now under "Menus" click the "Show desktop menu on right click" option and close the window.
This setting will allow you to bring up the normal desktop menu when you right click somewhere on the desktop. The Desktop Menu contains many more options than the limited user interface on the Aspire One.
OK. Now you're in advanced mode, right click somewhere on the desktop to bring up the menu. Go to "system" and then go to "terminal"

Once the terminal has opened type this:

sudo -su it will prompt you to enter a password. type this:
Code: [Select]
passwd It will now prompt you to enter your new root password (Just type it - you won't see anything appear but it's registering it).
You'll be happy to hear it asks you to repeat the password to make sure you were paying attention...
Note: That the password can be anything you want but needs to be longer than 6 characters.

i not sure but ill try to help all bios password user
enter wrong password 3 time if u get a code send me that code ill send u master password if i could not help dont angry let me know ill find another way.. Thanks

If you lose the password , the supervisor password is the only other key cappable of decrypting the file or try by uninstalling the edate security manager.

here are 2 password type first 1 is bios password if tell me about your bios password it prompt when u powerup follow procedure below

For that you need to reset factory defaults settings for bios.
For reset bios u have to open back side of your laptop then u find motherbord circuit there.
pull cmos cell on motherbord for 15 minute then it reset to defaults.
Also u can reset with jumper settigns read carefully on mother bord there is 1 jumper near cmos cell u read there " bios reset or clear"
It is on 1-2 position right now set it in 2-3 position then power up then all bios settings are reset.
then again set it in 1-2 its original position.
Then it not want password.

And if u tell about windows password
Then when you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in safe mode then wait until it prompt for user password

then enter in administrator then if u able to enter then reset your password.
But if u set and forgot default administrator password then u should need winxp recovery disk.

if u froget your bios password then u have to open the back side of laptop.then find the cmos cell then pull away it for 15 minutes then refix again .then it reset then it dont need any passworde.
