SanDisk Sansa C240 1 GB MP3 Player only shows half empty battery picture on screen and wont turn on. So it needs fixing.

Question edited for a lot more clarity.
Question moved from Misc to model category.

Replace the internal Li-Po battery, but try a reset first.

If your Sansa player is freezing, not charging or not turning on, the first thing to try is a reset of the unit. This will normally clear any temporary condition that may cause the player to freeze or not shut off completely, it's a bit like when your PC crashes and you need to re-start it to clear the error.

My sansa when its connected to my computer comes on works syncs and everything so as i disconnect it from my computer it' s dead and wont turn on

Three possibilities;
1) You have a dead battery because the battery is no good.
2) You have a dead battery because your Sansa is no longer charging the battery.
3) You have a dead battery because you didn't leave your Sansa tethered long enough to charge it up.

When you have the Sansa c250 tethered to the computer, you should see a tiny yellow lightning bolt flashing, and a battery icon that shows the amount of charge on the battery.

If you see the lightning bolt, but the battery does not charge after being tethered to a working computer or charger for 24 hours, you may need a new battery. You can get one on Amazon.com. Here's a link:
http://www.amazon.com/HQRP-Replacement-Battery-Universal-Protector/dp/B001NZ981S

If you see the lightning bolt, and the battery charges after 24 hours, AND your player works when unplugged--Problem solved! You just need to let it charge for a longer time.

If you do not see the lightning bolt when the player is tethered, and the battery indicator shows "empty," It's likely that the internal plug to your Sansa c250 has broken. Your Sansa is no longer able to charge the battery.

If you happen to be an electrical engineer, or otherwise have a shop full of electronics equipment (including signal injector, volt-ohm meter, needle-tip soldering iron, and stereo magnifying goggles with work lamps) you may be able to fix it yourself. Otherwise, forget it-- your Sansa is dead.

If it's still under warranty, try to get it replaced. Failing that, it's time to get a new MP3 player.

Hope that helps! Please post a message to let others know what happened to your Sansa player.

Yea my sansa 1g mp3 player wont turn on at all

Hi,

how long id you charge the battery?. You can charge for longer hour and see if it will power it.If it does no power, the battery might be dead and need a replacement.

Test the battery with the same type of the mp3 to comfirm if the battery is the functioning. If the battery is OK, that means it needs to be flashed to restored the lost memory of the mp3.

Good luck.

There is a trick to charging the battery in these small mp3 players. It wont charge if it is turned on, and it won't charges if it's turned off. Here what to do...
1. plug the payer into your USB port. or wall charger
2. switch thje palyer on using the mechanical switch (on the side)
3. turn it off by either holding down the play button, or selecting "System" from the menu
4. The screen will go black and the battery will begin charging.

The battery may show "full' but still not hold a charge, so that when you unplug it from your computer, it goes dead. I assume you hold down the power button for several seconds and it still doesn't power up? Most likely, you battery is defective.

Frozen on.

Problem resolved. I just let it sit until battery went down far enough for "Battery" alert to come on screen.
From there I put a charge on it and everything works fine now. Probably I should have kept it charged up.
