You need to RESTORE FILE SYSTEM on your ps3. Here is how you can do it.
HOW TO GO TO THE RECOVERY MENU OF PS3 SYSTEM
1. Make sure the ps3 is plugged in (stand by mode). 2. Put out your usb cable for the controller and the controller itself (do not connect yet). 3. Hold down power firmly, ps3 will turn on and then turn off, release power button when it turns off. 4. Hold down power again, you will hear a beep and then a double beep, when you hear that double beep release the power button. 5. Now you should be seeing something in your monitor that say "Connect usb controller", do just that. 6. After connecting the controller press PS button. 7. You are now in the recovery menu. 8. To fix the problem of corrupt data you can choose #3. 9. If you want to format your hard drive choose #5. Be aware that this option will delete everything that is in your hard drive. 10. Remember that doing #3 and #5 is not 100% to fix the problem of corrupt data, I say about 70%.
try rebuilding the database and the file system in recovery consol
to get to the recovery consol press and hold the power button when ps3 is in standby mode(red light) till you hear a double beep. sometimes the ps3 does a beep then another beep and goes back into standby thsi is fine just release the power and quikly press and hold it again till you get double beep.
like on my 80g system it goes like this
ps3 standby...press hold power.......beep .........beep........stanby again....release and hold power again.......beep .........double beep...release power now you should be in recovery menu.

well it could be the resolution of your tv if your or a damage cable that is causing the problem what you can do is to hook up the ps3 to you tv with the regular cables A/V components(red, white and yellow) and try to play a game or demo, if you could see the picture then is the cable or the display settings. you can also try to check different display settings. for example if you use 1080p change it to 720p and try it to see if it works. also try changing the input to a different input on your tv if you're using HDMI 1 change it to HDMI2. and viseversa
