Please follow the steps below on how to properly install your Lexmark 1200 Series printer on your Windows 7:
1. Check the version of your operating system. Go to Start menu > right-click on Computer and choose Properties to see if you have a 64-bit or 32-bit OS.
2. Visit the Lexmark website to download and install the printer driver on your computer. Use the links below:
- Lexmark X1200 Series Driver for Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit
- Lexmark X1200 Series Driver for Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit
3. Follow the instructions on your computer screen. The software will show you a step-by-step instructions on how to setup the printer as well.
If your Lexmark printer is Optra Color 1200 or similar model/series, the driver for windows xp is available on the Lexmark official website. This is the direct download LINK. Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the printer driver on your laptop. First, check if your Windows 7 is running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system. Follow the steps below:
Unfortunately there's no Windows 7 driver for this printer, but you can still install it in compatibility mode. Download the Windows Driver from HERE, and follow these instructions [click HERE.] Let me know if you need further help.
You can install your printer by going to Lexmarks website (www.lexmark.com) and click on the "drivers and software" link. Enter your printer make and model number and follow the prompts to download your driver and/or software onto your laptop. After downloading, install all files before connecting your printer to your pc. Connect your printer when the sofware calls for it, or wait until finished.

Go to the control panel
Click on the System Icon
Click on the Hardware Tab
Click on the Device Manager then
Select the Unknown Device or printer device where yellow Question Marks sign on it.
Right click on it and uninstall it.
After this go to the top of the device manager and click on scan for hardware changes.

Brows Your Driver from the Hard Disk and click on next.
Have you downloaded a "driver" for the printer. If not, search for "Lexmark 1200" free driver downloads. Or go to "control panel" and click on "add new hardware" and follow the onscreen instructions. Try this first and if not work, then do the search.
