I want to plug in my iPod touch to the DVD player I have, it's an SA-HT930 DVD home theatre sound system. But I don't know how :( can you help me out? I need some pretty easy to follow instruction...

The manual...

http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/SAHT730.PDF

Anything that has a headphone output can be adapted to feed an RCA cable pair for standard stereo to any audio device with a standard RCA input (except PHONO). Get a cable like the one described here: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021804&p_id=665&seq=1&format=2
and connect it into any available analog input EXCEPT "Phono".

I would like to connect my computer to my panasonic sa-ht800v unit and hear the sound thru the surround sound speakers

In general, your PC's sound card (and its controlling software) will determine what it can connect to.

Even the most basic PC would have stereo analog output via the typical green 1/8" connector or a headphone jack that easily adapts to RCA pair for analog audio connection. Any Line Level input EXCEPT PHONO would accept the PC's output. The output level would be controlled by the sound card software and settings.

The SA-HT800's single LINE Input would accept the Green stereo audio or speaker output from a standard PC, once adapted. Select VCR.

Find your PC's Sound Controls and enable the applicable input. make sure the volumes of both Inputs and Outputs are turned up.

Though not applicable to theGemini, more-advanced sound cards and audio hardware would have similar adaptable 5.1 or 7.1 (paired) analog outputs and / or digital audio outputs that conform to the s/pdif or Dolby Digital standards.

I have an older Panasonic HDTV Viera and I am trying to hook up a Panasonic DVD/sound suround model SA-HT920 and am not having any luck getting it too work. I have the sound turned off on the tv speakers...

What does the TV really need from the receiver in all of this? Minimally, Component video for the DVD and managing the SA-HT920, not much else.

A TV is not normally an optimal source of audio.

Your broadcast TV-related sound would be higher quality and easier to obtain if you got it from the Cable or Sat box you probably have. Route ITS BEST (digital multichannel) audio directly to the SA and and its BEST (HI-DEF) VIDEO directly to the TV. You could also run vanilla analog audio to the TV so you can watch news in lo-fi audio on the TV.

The exact model of TV would be helpful to know as audio capabilities may vary.

Should you still feel the need to run TV-originated audio to the SA from the Viera through its headphone or audio output, connect that to any available analog RCA input.

Connection of a jack into the audio output will pass unmodified TV audio to the SA. That's a good thing as the REAL audio electronics needs an unmodifed source for best results.

Can you hook up ipod touch to a HD TV or media player

Yes. What you need is an adapter from apple, depending on the type of input your HDTV has. If you need composite, generally denoted by a single yellow RCA video connector and two (Red and White) RCA audio connectors, you need this cable: http://goo.gl/OlSDa Please note that Composite is not an HD signal. Although iPods are not able to output a true HD signal, over component (see below), they will output a slightly higher signal. If you require a Composite connection, denoted by three RCA video connectors (Red, Green and Blue, labeled Pr, Y, and Pb, respectively) plus two (Red and White) RCA audio connectors, then you need this cable: http://goo.gl/yk8Zt Also note that video out on iPods is only supported for certain video formats/video playing apps. Before buying a cable, you should most certainly research whether the videos/apps you are playing/using support video out.

I have a Panasonic SA-PM31 stereo system with two auxiliary input methods: the first appears to be a common auxiliary cable input which says "phones." The second is a two cable input system...

The corect input for your ipod is another one who's name is "auxiliary" The "phones" input is dedicate only for pick-up, or another device who had to output a very small level signal. Your ipod have a high power level on output because he is amplified for a good level sound on your earphones. So, you can serious damage your Panasonic SA-PM31 sound system when input a too high level signal on "phones input" Phones is for unamplified audio signals like pickup signal direct from the head wires, or casette deck signal direct from the head wires. Gross (unprocessed) signal.
