I cant get my computer to fully boot up

My friend has an acer aspire m5641 and when he put mcafee on his computer it starting freezing up at the windows xp screen. he tried loading it in normal mode and safe mode but it still freezes. the part that it freezes up now is after you turn it on and you see windows xp come on and the blue bar loadingin the middle of the screen. does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

but what can i do if the computer freezes before i can put the computer in safe mode?

This might happen if you install McAfee with applications running, or not restarting Windows, etc. I am not sure why you couldn't boot in Safemode, booting in safemode is exactly what you need to do to uninstall McAfee.

You can use a Linux Live CD to find the program files and manually delete it. However, if you do that, you will need to reinstall and uninstall it to find all the traces that's left behind. There are many other ways which you can try such as repairing Windows XP with the original Windows XP CD.

You probably can install Windows 7. You will have to go to Acer's site to get any special drivers, But to start, just insert the system disk and do a fresh install.

I have an acer aspire M5641 and when it boots it does not display anything or no startup "beep" whats wrong?

Silence is bad, if it doesn't boot!
It could be anything from a bad power supply to missing parts! Get it simplified to something that can boot, see that it does, then add a thing, and see if it still boots.

My Aspire M5641 Freezes at Acer Screen. It says at Bottom of Screen " DEL: Enter Setup F12 : Boot Menu". I cant do anything from here with computer. Any suggestions?

Does it say anything else? Sometimes this type of recurring message can be due to the system time not being set. Entering setup and configuring the time may work.

Acer M5641 :: System won't boot...tried to run restore CD DBAN...both programs freeze before the processes start...can't boot into any safe mode w/o it locking up...sometimes I get a black screen,...

try to reset computer first by unplugging it from the power supply for 5 minutes. Then while the unit is unplugged try to remove the CMOS battery and put it back in.. this eliminate if the BIOS is the one causes this to happen, then turn the computer on. If still the same turn computer off, then remove the video card and put it back in and try to turn computer on if it's still the same. Try to re-install OS.

The M5641 PC system can't boot by the original RAM DIMMs that are 2 X 2GB @ 800 MHz!!! At the biginning of prolem it started to hang and later started to show blue screens... restarting and finally use...

it looks to me that its dead. R.I.P acer m5641

Blue screen

Check booting in other computer, this will show if CD faulty. If not, CD drive may be faulty. If CD not faulty & can boot from USB drive you can copy CD to USB drive and install that way.

Acer is known for that. The easiest way to format the hard drive is to insert any windows installation cd, then when the computer first powers on, press F12 and change the boot order to boot from cd. Follow the instructions through, and one of the steps will ask you to format the hd. Another way is to hook up the hd secondary on another computer and format it.

1. Go to http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
2. Download the latest version driver, extract to flash disk.
3. Connect your flash disk when windows said that driver is missing (before enter vista serial
number) and browse to "IDE/WinVista/sataraid" windows will choose the driver that it need,
install it
4. The process will continue as usual....
