I have a compaq computer that works great for 1 hour the shuts do

CQ60-615DX shutdown do follow step:
1) as a new laotop with windows 8 return to windoes 7 need to update a proper BIOS version to get good campatible current system

2) the Battery should be good, the charging issue is also link to BIOS version support, or check dc jack LED indicator on when adapter plug in. not lights no charging
3) check adapter plug in DC jack lights, shutdown could be related to if the lights not on. may be try change adapter first

Check The Heat of The Processor, Some Server Units are programmed to shut down if the CPU gets too hot

1 short beep and 1 long beep means its a memory problem.
Shut down your computer, then open your computer case and replace the memory module.If you have 2 or more modules ,try starting the pc with one.If it fails, try a different single module.

2 short beeps and 1 long beep repeating for 5 times means its a graphics card issue.
Shut down your computer, then open your computer case and unplug the graphics card, then plug it again.If this doesn't help, try with a different(confirmed working) graphics card.

Check your power supply, check your RAM and make sure it is dust free. Cleaning of system is recommended. Or there is case that you might need to reinstall your windows if nothing helps.

it problaby needs a new monater

With the amount of knowledge that you've given me, I would recommend going to your power setting in control panel and disabling the hard disk shutdown in the power settings. This will only turn off the monitor not the disk. If this gives you the same results, then your monitor is at fault.

It might be a problem with the computer. I would advise going back to where you bought it and returning it to either get a new one or a different one. Glad I Helped!

right click your desktop go down to properties and click on it. then go to the screen saver tab and select power. then set the times there and hit APPLY then Hit ok.

When you boot the computer back up go into Safe Mode and check to see if you can roll the computer back to the point before you installed the software.

If so this should work. If it works then run a virus scan, a defrag of the hard drive and cleans the temp files.

OR

You can do a diagnostic startup and uninstall Onecare. So once that it is uninstall ed it should be smooth sailing.

Probably some component in the power supply. Look for a leaking or swollen capacitor. They can change value during operation unlike a diode or transistor that either works or does not work. U might even remove and test all caps in the PS area and replace any one that is questionable regarding its specs.
