I am having a hard time finding a manual for an Emerson Plasma TV Model number PL-P42W-10A

check the bridge rectifier on the black heat sink left side bottom one with the + - and 2 squiggles on it.

So, your TV does not come on? That part is not clear to me. I have seen TVs that do just that but is normal. Some machines have internal codes reflected by the infrared LED. When they sense power in the circuits they send internal signals to other components. If your TV does not come on at all then the issue is in one of the internal circuits, could be configuration issue, or that the power supply is at a low level. Please consider that the power supply in some equipment are voltage sensitive.

Is it a smart TV? if not then you can't connect to the net.

Check capacitors. There are some very inexpensive meters for this and cheap capacitors are behind many problems in electronics. Once you find it is a bad cap you can replace it or the board.

Well I am unable to find the manual for this particular model but there should be something under settings to reset your flat screen. I was reading another forum and I believe it would be on page 4.
