The belt may have streached so that when pressure is applied to it the belt slips. The belt will not be broken just streached to far.

I recently got a cordless 2-in-1 stick vac and the brush only turns every once in a while. How can I fix this? Its like it has a short in it.

Make sure the vacuum is turned off before troubleshooting.
Check that there is no material clogging the vacuum or the brush and belt assembly. Remove the brush as check for hair binding the roller. Look at th ed belt to see if its crazed. When installed, the belt should be very tight and not slip.
If either the belt or brush seem worn down or broken, follow the manufacturers replacement guide in your owner's manual.
Other possibilities include a defective switch controlling the brush. When running try jinging the switch to see if it has any effect.
If both the brush and the belt are working correctly, and the switch is working, the brush motor could be broken. If there is a humming or clicking sound (when the belt and brush is removed), this is a clear sign of the brush motor being faulty.

Brush won't spin when carpet cleaner is running

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
If the vacuum cleaner brush is not spinning, the brushroll bearing might be jammed. Try removing the brushroll assembly and cleaning all hair, string, lint, etc. from the brushroll bearing. If that doesn't solve the problem the brushroll may need to be replaced.
If the vacuum cleaner brush is not spinning, the brushroll assembly itself might be jammed. Try removing the brushroll assembly and cleaning all hair, string, lint, etc. from the brushroll bearings. If that doesn't solve the problem the brushroll may need to be replaced.

I have a riccar vibrance red vacuum, just purchased with in 6 months and the roller brush wont go on and the reset button doesn't seem to push in or work I now live in Hankinson, ND 58041...there is a...

The reset button only pops out if the vacuum motor overheats. It does not affect the brush roll. If the motor is running the problem is most likely a broken or stretched belt.

Something is jammed in it or the belt is bad.Turn it upside down. You will see 4-6 screws.Remove the screws and the plate they are holding. Now the brush is exposed. The belt hooks on to the brush and a small wheel on the other end.Remove the brush and belt.Make sure the area is free of debris. While you have it off, replace the belt.

Roller won't turn,

Refer to your owner's manual on how to replace the belt. You have a broken belt if the vacuum is working fine but brush roll isn't turning. Either that or you have an option on your vacuum to turn the brush roll off???????

Bissell carpet cleaner brushes won't turn

Make sure you have released the handle, as if you wanted to push the machine forward. If the handle is locked upright, the brushes do not spin.

If they still don't spin, you may have a broken belt. Look carefully at the base, on each side. As I face the front of mine, on the right side of the machine, a small belt goes around one brush and a small cog wheel. On the left side, a larger belt goes around both brushes. If either belt is broken, the brushes will not spin. This can happen if you let gunk build up inside the clear plastic side pieces or around or above the brushes. It's very important to constantly be cleaning your Bissell. The belts can be ordered online and replaced. See your owner's manual.

Steam vac hoover F7458900

There is no belt, the brush block is turned by a turbine. Check the brush block, make sure that the shaft that goes into the turbine isn't broke off, If ok, then replace the turbine, or take it apart and clean it out.

Windtunnel Light Vacuum Belt

Take off the bottom plate, you will see the brush roll and old belt, If you can reach the motor shaft, then put the belt over it and then over the brush rol and stretch to fit back in the slots fot it. If you don't see the motor shaft, then you have to remove the top cover to get to it.
