When on the screen, and you have no icons hold control(ctrl) down and shift key and press escape(esc) your windows task manager should appear, goto the applications tab, at the bottom goto the tab New Task and left click, another window should appear with a text bar, type in the text bar explorer.exe and click ok, all the icons and your normal screen should reapear.
If your screen goes back to normal goto the start bar and goto run or search and type "regedit". When the regedit window appears left click the " + " sign next to Hkey_local_mechine the the plus sign on software, scroll down to Microsoft folder and click the plus sign, scroll down to Windows nt folder and click the plus sign, the plus sign on Current version folder, then scroll down to winlogon folder and left click on the folder icon, on the right hand side of the screen look for "shell" double click on the icon and delete everything in the text bar and type explorer.exe and click ok and exit out of the window, restart the pc and everything should be back to normal.

It sounds like you've had problems writing a custom ROM to your phone. You have done it correctly using the CID unlock. Are you using the same WM6 ROM that you have done before?
Firstly, turn off your XDA Orbit. Then hold down the voice recorder button on the left side of the phone Then press and hold the power button on the right side of the phone, whilst still holding the voice button on the left.
This should get you into "bootloader mode" which will display a screen with red, green, blue and white stripes - yu should now be able to instlal your ROM using the RRU from the computer with USB connection
If that is not possible, you can install the ROM from a microSD card if you first format the card into Fat32 file system from your computer, then copy the NBH file from your ROM to the microSD card. You will need to rename the NBH file from the ROM to ARTEIMG.NBH for this to work.
Enter bootloader mode and you should see a prompt to press the volume button downwards to start the ROM installation process.
See this page for more information on the MicroSD ROM installation: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Artemis_SD_Card_Flashing
