this is gotta be the largest complaint I hear from folks when they get a new flat screen , its not loud enough or the sound sounds muffled
flat screens are flat ! so theres no good way for mfg to put the speakers facing forward so sound has to hit the wall behind it first then gets directed forward to you ! (low/muffled)
sound bars help with this , but for true rich sound , id go with a video receiver amp combo , some of these even have built in dvd players , and arrange its speakers in a forward facing direction
No built in speakers. There is a sound bar that you can get the attaches to the bottom of the screen to add speaers to the unit but it is sold separately.
Hello; This model does have built in speakers just below the screen. If you don't have sound, make sure the sound is not muted and that SAP has not been selected in the audio mode on the remote control. Read/ download the owner's manual for best info. If still no audio, you have a failed circuit board. John
Let verify first to narrow down to where the problem can be. First, make sure the MUTE function is not activated, then check the on screen sound set up menu to make sure the speakers are not set to OFF. If the setting is OK, then attach the powered PC speakers to the Audio Line out RCA jacks (Red and White) to see if you can get the sound there, if you do, then the problem can be in the power amp circuits, if you do not get the sound at RCA jacks, then the problem can be in the sound processor circuit. It sounds like a 'mute' icon. Check for a corresponding button on your remote control.
Just to clarify - You say the TV sound is fine but you do not use the built-in speakers...
Can you actually get any sound out of the TV speakers? If you can't it is because the TV is on mute (For your type of setup you will need to turn it off mute and then just turn the volume all the way down.)
If you can get sound out of the built-in speakers and the icon is still showing, it is almost certainly going to be a fault with the TV. You could try unplugging it, leaving it for a minute or two and then plugging it back it. This may well reset it.
Assuming your using a Windows operating system, you need to got to the sound settings and set your computers soundcard as the preferred output device. (Its under Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices in XP)
