I need a wep key and Im not sure how to find it.

You will need to open the setup page of the router and check the settings of the network. It depends on the model of your router. Follow the link how to find network key wep / wpa

Either get into the router configuration to get the WEP key, or hack the wep key using aircrack from this guide http://www.askstudent.com/hacking/how-to-crack-a-wep-key-using-ubuntu/ just make sure you have a compatible adapter like a ALFA awusb36H or something with pack injection or you'll just be banging your head against a wall.

Hi, the WEP key you have should be incorrect, WEP keys have to be 10 characters, 26 characters or 58 characters.
Also, make sure you have entered your key correctly, when hexadecimal warning comes up it usually means that you have entered a character that is not A,B,C,D,E,F or 0-9.

you have to get the WEP key off the router on your home network. sometimes the key will be on the wireless router but not usually. you would have to log into the router using your ip adress 192.168.1.1 is usually the default. you need to log into the router and go to security settings to see the WEP key

Press & hold the reset button on the router. It's very tiny & you may need a paper clip to do it. They're usually located near the power jack. Hold it in until all the lights go out,then release it. This clears the wep key or password. Now you can get on the network. You'll need to use a pc that's wired to the router to put a new wep key in & password,unless you just want to stay unsecured.

to change the WEP key on the router , you will need to access the router set up.

A wep key is a type of internet security (mostly used on routers) to prevent any unauthorized access to their internet connection. And to get a key, go to the router you wanted to connect to and ask for the wep key and to add you to their mac address book, or if you own one, go to the txt. document that was downloaded on your desktop and look at where it says network security key, and if your router has a mac address filter, add your ds's mac address to the mack address book on your router. then connect and type the key.
