Whirlpool Washer won't drain or spin

I have a Whirlpool Ultimate Care II. When it got to the rinse cycle it started making a loud clicking/tapping sound, wouldn't drain & wouldn't spin.

  • seadan45 Mar 08, 2008

Also have the same problem.. washer gets to the final drain/spin cylce and it stops. It does not do the final drain/spin.

We can sometimes get it to drain / spin by moving the control thru a dozen or so loops clockwise.. tyring to stop on the drain/spin ...and sometimes it works...sometimes takes forever to get it on the right 'spot' where it kicks in and finishes

    ANy ideas ?

I turn on my machine, it goes to light 2 and then it gets stuck there and doesn't move and makes a clicking sound

SOURCE: My Whirlpool Ultimate Care II

It is so common that the washing machine can make terrible noise in many ways and is a common fault. In all occasions it is important that your observation is most important and so is vital to the identification /rectification and solution. If you have noticed that machine is vibrating when it is running then the motor /drum suspension has to be inspected. Since these fittings are located on the underside of the machine it is important that you look for the noise with a good inspection lamp. Manually turn the motor and drum and listen for the noise, if so the motor bearings, the drum agitator shaft and fittings must be checked. Also the suspensions which include the shock absorbers and springs, the body clamps must be checked to be in correct alignment and not changed in position. Tightening of the mounting is also very important. Finally in most cases a drop of OIL or smear of grease on the moving parts cane solve most issues.

Will not spin on any rinse cycle

Hi, This washer does not have a belt. While the washer is agitating, if you lift the lid will it stop? Some models will agitate but not spin if the lid is up. It sounds to me like the lid switch might be going bad.
If you will get me a model #, I can look this up for you and give you a better idea.
