HP laserjet 3055 Have dial tone. With phone can call out and receive calls. When sending fax keep getting Result: No answer

Direct Line:
1.Check telephone line.2.Make sure telephone line is connected in line in port not in extension.3.connect extension telephone phone to the device & check for the dial tone.
Dial the number and observe weather extension phone is ringing?
A. *If extension phone is ringing check display is there any message like "ringing".. wait till fax tone comes,if not check "basic fax settings"... if setting are OK .. Replace formatter
B. *Extension phone is ringing no message displayed on device replace "LIU" card..
If extension telephone is not ringing check telephone line..
No out going faxess:
*Check line is connected though EPABX , if connected Check..prefix setting..
*Check out going..

It means there is no answer or connection on the other end. A couple of things could cause this: if your telephone connection runs through your cable company, the fax machine may start dialing before the dial tone actually begins, resulting in a call that's not completed. For this, you may have to dial manually instead of scanning your fax and then letting the machine do the work. Or, the fax machine on the other end is not set up correctly. For that, you'd need to call and verify your recipient does not have issues.

Go to menu option and choose the option fax and set the parameter like auto receive or manual set the ring auto answer mode after certain ring. If it is in auto receiving mode it will receive the fax after the ring which you set. Make sure the phone wire which you insert in fax machine getting proper dial tone and getting out going calling facility.

check the phone line is properly connected and you are getting dial tone and dialing facility from the phone line which is connectd to fax line.go to menu option and choose the option fax and set the parameter like auto receive or manual set the ring auto answer mode after certain ring. Hi. The fax-module in lj 3055 needs a 100% analog dial tone. You might get it working on a internet-phone-line, but HP garantees nothing because there are so many internet-phone-providers, and all of them operates with different specs and line-quality. You might try to lower the baud rate, turn off JBIG compession and error-correction. If the problem still remains, you need to replace your phone-line to a 100% analog line. Not any internet or ISDN/adapter-stuff. You should test your fax on any analog line at a friends house, just to make sure the fax i working anway.

how do i stop the # 9 from coming up first when I dial a fax #

Same problem here - I got it work:

- Error Correction: off
- V34: off

(both Menu -> Fax-Setup - All Faxes)

- detect-dial-tone: off

(Menu -> Fax Setup - Fax Send setup - detect dial tone)

Why don't you consider a separate Phone/Fax switch. It will answer first ring and detect a fax and then ring the fax/printer you can set that to one ring as well, otherwise it ring the answering machine that is plugged into that and you can set that to answer on 3 or 4 rings. Then you have time to pickup phone if you are available.

Thanks what I do. The boxes are about $30 They are fairly cheap.

The only thing that I can think of for you to do is to completly delete it from your computer & then re-download it. Only do this if you get no other resolution. Or you can call 1-800-474-7739 for hp technical support. I just did & they were a great help to me!
