Hi when I on my printer MFC 8840D is displayed the message "machine error 6D" an d more down say "call brother assitance" or something like and i cant print or copy nothing
I would make the following call on this machine ... I would replace the fuser because a 6D is generally a bad fuser on most brother laser machines. A replacement fuser should solve this problem.

A Brother MFC-8840D reported an Error 6A on the panel after a short power-outage
that occurred. Calling Brother indicated that the error reflects that.
To
clear the error, the procedure is as follows: 1. Turn off printer 2. Hold
down MENU button on front panel and turn on power while continuing to
hold. 3. Release button after 5 seconds (after the Please Wait message) 4.
If error still occurs: 5. Press 91 6. If error still occurs: 7. Press
99
Machine Error 78 indicates a mechanical malfunction of the Brother MFC-8840D. 78 represents the error number. You have to contact Brother Customer Service 1-877-BROTHER.
With my Brother 8840D I have had paper jams that when cleared would not delete from the display nor would the machine operate until I unplugged the machine for around eight hours. I guess it is a sort of reset or reboot.
1) Unplug machine. 2) Hold down menu key while plugging in machine. 3) Enter 99 while holding down menu key 4) After it says "PLease wait" hit the stop/exit button to get out of the maintenance mode
That error happens when the left hinge in the back breaks and the scanner cover won't shut all the way. temporarily you can tape the switch that is above the hinge and when the error is gone the modes should change again. The hinge is #LP2403001.
Open ADF and close again. There must be tab in the ADF which is not pressing a microswitch located in the lower part of the ADF. IF you can locate it, try pressing it manually.
Machine Error 41means the printhead is bad. It's a fairly easy repair on that model, but an expensive part and requires replacing all four ink cartridges at the same time. New machines are so much smaller and cheaper that it may not be worth it. There are also some setting that must be changed in Service Mode to match the machine to the characteristics of the new head. If you're still interested, look for Brother part number LK0935001.
