Our dishwasher runs through a cycle but does not clean. the dish soap remains in the capsule. thanks
I am trying to se;ect pots and pans so I can wash my dishes. The button is blinking and not one button I push makes a difference. I can not reset........nothing! Help.
I have a GE Quietpower 3 dishwasher and let me tell you it is the worst dishwasher, hands down that I have ever owned. It is not quiet and it certainly does not have any power to clean anything. Or so i thought. After reading a few of the posts on this site it dawned on me to check the drainage. I took the whole drain assembly apart. Cleaned all of the gunk out of it. Then went for the drain hose. It was just about a clean as it was brand new. Then i reexamined the drain and found that it did not drain into the Garbage disposal like I am use too. Instead it had to make an immediate 30" climb into a PVC drain that sat just below the underside of the countertop. I rerouted the hose to dump into a bucket and ran the dishwasher. Guess what??? All clean and no residue. I am off to Lowes now to get the clamps and such to drain the dishwasher into the disposal. I still think this dishwasher is the worst I have ever owned and think GE should give that Six Sigma save a few pennies on one DW and the company can save hundred of thousands, at the expense of a customer spending hours on fix-it sites to find out the company cheapened the pump, a rest! However, for all of you that just want to fix your dishwasher, try draining it into the Disposal now before you blow your pump out.
I've been washing my dishes by hand for over a month now cause I couldn't get it to work. I checked to see if everything is connected properly and all looks good. So i'm doing a trial run now to see what it does. So far it looks good. Will put a load in after it gets done running and see what happens. Will post the results.

Yes without doubt this is probably some thing in the impellor of the water pump at the bottom of the dish washer..Take the stainless strain tray out of the bottom of the dishwasher and there is a sprung clip holding down a shaped plastic cover at the r/h rear. Move this to one side remove the cover and you will see the impellor.

First clean the sprayer arm of all debris. In the back of most dishwashers there is a screen on the bottom that is often full of junk, debris and other stuff from dishes not being scraped off.
Clean that screeen off.
Run vinegar (1 cup) for a full cycle to help break down the lime and other build ups.
Check sprayer arm for debris and other objects. carefully pick it out with a small needle or sometimes even a nail works.
Try running dishes again to see if this helps.
I just took mine apart (bottom turntable, screen, etc.) and I was disgusted by the grime and gum that was clogging everything. I think it was keeping all the water a gritty white, which constantly left residue. I am currently running a load... hope that the "clean" dishwasher actually washes my dishes now!

I have the same problem. the dishwasher goes through all the motions of a clean cycle, but there is at least half of the soap left in the dispenser and the dishes are grimy...any thoughts anyone?
The dishwasher runs through the cycle but the soap doesn't dissolve, becomes clumpy, and the result is dirty dishes!
Same problem. It goes through the motions but the dishes don't get clean. Any suggestions?
We have the same problem. Been getting worse over the last 2 months, with a LOT of soap build up in the all the water holes. I have to constantly scrape them out. I've switched soaps 4 times, thinking it was that. Finally had the repairman out and we cleaned out all the residue, only to find that now the pump isn't draining the tub. All the dirty water is recirculated. I spent $115 for the first "repair" and now will need a $50 pump and another $100 in labor, apparently. This dishwasher is only 2.5 yrs old!
we have a brand new set that came with the house we built and it doesn't drain and leave the dishes dirty. what do we do?
We have the same problem. Ours wasn't draining, then my husband took it apart and cleaned any screens and filters he could find. He put it back together, it goes through all the motions, but the dishes are still dirty? Anyone please help!
Dishes do not get clean and the soap remains in the dispenser though it does open and some of the soap spills out. I took everything apart cleaning anything I could and adjusted the hot water heater to make the water hotter. If I rotate the timer manually after the complete cycle I can drain any additional water out so I know the pump is working.
Help....I hve the same issues. How can we fix it?
Mine is a Quiet Power 1, but same problem
Dishwasher came with the house and we have had the same problem of detergent remaining in the dispenser. We also had knocking noise whenever it is running.
I have the same problem, but with a Kenmore 15892. The workaround has been to turn this into a "manual" dishwasher. When the cycle clock hits 76 I open the dishwasher door so the soap dish opens all the way and the soap packet drops into the dishwasher. At the end of the rinse cycle, just before drying starts (at the 32 minute point), I open the dishwasher again and manually rinse the dirty glasses and dishes. The dirt is sediment that has been pushed into the glasses on the top rack and in the corners (front and rear). Some large bowls on the bottom have sediment, as does the side of a cutting board facing the side of the dishwasher.
This is very perplexing because the glasses did not have visible dirt on them at the start of the cycle, but the dishwasher shot the dirt in but is unable to clean it out. Over the years we have used powdered soap, liquid, tablets and currently use (Cascade) gel packs: they all leave dirt.
I hope to find out what causes this so I know what to look out for before purchasing a new dishwasher.
Anyone have a reason why my dishwasher might get water under the kitchen sink? The dishwasher is only 4 years old?
Water feed line safety valve is bad.
