Liebherr Fridge Freezer fading door seal...

My trusty Liebherr Fridge Freezer is about 10 yrs old and the door seal on the fridge seems to be giving up the ghost.

I've been in touch with Liebherr (UK) and they say it's not possible to replace the seal, that I would have to have a new door. The price of the new door: £608 (!!!) (that's Pounds Sterling)

Clearly this is a ridiculous price, and I'll just go get a brand-new fridge freezer instead, however this seems like an appalling thing to have to do, not least for the environment, but especially as I've never had any other problems with it.

Anyone got any bright thoughts or suggestions?

SOURCE: liebherr frost free fridge/freezer

Try these solutions in these order:
1. Switch off the fridge and leave the door open overnight. Switch it back on in the morning.
Explanation: The sensor inside the fridge gets frozen and cannot control the temperature properly.
2. Switch off the fridge. Unplug it. At the back of the fridge (behind the unit, not inside) there is a large grid. Clean it with a hoover thoroughly. Open the fridge. Dry the back of the fridge if wet (inside the fridge). If frosted wait for it to defrost and then dry it. Plug in the fridge. Switch the fridge back on. This one worked for me.
Explanation: The dust in the grid deprives the fridge from cooling down and the unit can't control the temperature in the fridge section.
3. Switch off the fridge. -Unplug it. Empty it. Turn it upside down. Plug it in. Switch it on for 24 hours. Switch it off. Unplug, return to normal and switch on.
Explanation: This has to do with the pressure of the gas inside the compressor. I have not tried it but this advice as given to me by a qualified electrician when I commented the (in)famous F2 problem in Liebherr fridge/freezers.
Hope it helps. Regards. Albert

Liebherr KD 900 fridge freezer bought 2001. Both the freezer and fridge are losing temperature, as though it is defrosting and then clicks back on and seems to regulate itself again. This has happened...

The defrost timer sticks in defrost mode and then comes out of it. I've been out of the service industry long enough to not be able to tell you on your model where it is located. Defrost timers on frost free refrigerators are a very common problem.

Alarm is going off (beeping) - ice accumulating on rear freezer wall.

hi check the doors seals if it closed perfectly and do not open the fridge or freezer door for long time because if you forgot one of the doors open it will make this problem and do not put hot or warm food inside most important to be sure that the seals stuck good when you close the fridge doors.

Ice keeps accumulating in back of fridge. We've tried cleaning drain but it doesn't seem to help.

If the drain is clean and there is sufficient space for air to flow around the food, the only thing left is to replace the door seal. It is allowing moisture to enter the freezer. The fan inside the freezer, actually burns the frost off of the food. If the seals are bad, it can never catch up.

The door seems to be warped or tweaked in some way

Your fridge is not level. If you level it you will find that the door was fine , it was the fridge that was tweaked because it was not level and sitting correctly. Use a level, shims, and/or the adjustment screws on the bottom.

Fridge motor is loud when doors closed stops when open-3.5 yrs old- first time same problem fixed with replacing sensor 2/08 now sensor broken again???

the fan goes off when door opened and when closes it will turn back on is normal operation of fan and door control --as to noise --fan may be failing ---iced over ----if seal failing will cause unit to run more and allows more moisture into evap which can cause more ice over

Fitting an integrated fridge freezer!

Hi Gareth. I fitted a door to my Hotpoint hsz2321L today. I used self tapping screws through the brackets into the fridge door sides. Looking at the old fridge that came out showed that this was the method used previously. No seal is broken and so the fridge is working perfectly. I do have an issue re-fitting the door onto the new fridge though. The pivot hinge on my fridge doesnt give enough clearance and so it catches on the unit at the side of it. The old fridge (a Bosch) cad cabinet hinges that would sort of concertina out to give clearence. Anyway, good luck.
