Install issue My computer is new but printer isn't. I no longer have the install disk and i'm not able to download on the website cause i guess the x75 is too old or something. Is there anyway to install this printer now? My Installation Software Disk will not install, I now have a new computor running Windows Vista. Please help....

    My computer is new as of last September. I installed my older printer on-line last fall because I don't have the disk. Last week somehow it was removed and I need to re-install it.

Hi,

To my knowledge, the Lexmark X75 is not Vista compatible. this is the reason why your "Installation Software Disk will not install". Further, the Lexmark site does not list any drivers for this model and they have issued a bulletin that they have no plans of coming up with Vista drivers for "discontinued" products. Sorry.

Offhand, am afraid your only option is for the purchase of a Vista compatible printer.

Alternately, you can try;

Since Vista supposedly has drivers for many printers pre-installed, though they are very basic and often will not allow other features to function fully, you can try auto-detect/install. The idea is to connect your printer to the PC/Laptop without installing the XP driver CD and 'keep your fingers crossed'; or

Force a bare install. Pop in the XP CD but do not install (exit). Rather, open the contents of the CD and look for an ".inf" file, right click to install and see if Vista will take it from there. There night be a couple of them inside the CD.

If your X75 still did not install by either alternative method, guess it will have to be a new printer..

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

    To other users of the Lexmark X75 PrinTrio, the Windows XP drivers are here.

    To users of the Lexmark Lexmark X5150, this is Windows XP, drivers, this is Windows Vista drivers and the Mac OS X drivers are here.

Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the Lexmark X6170 Printer Driver on your computer. Select your operating system > click on "FILTER" > click on the driver under Recommended Downloads > download and execute the file. Simply follow the instructions on your computer screen to complete the installation.

Use the disk that came with it and install the program. If you no longer have the disk Canon website may still have the Program(Drivers) to download.
