I have a thin black line running across my computer screen. Any way I can get rid of it.
Your Display cable (inside your monitor) needs to be replaced.
I would look on ebay to try and find the part and then take it to a local tech to replace it for you as I would not recommend anyone take apart a monitor (LCD OR CRT) if you had never done so before.
OR, Buy a new monitor.
Maybe your monitor (Dell?) is from origin a Sony Trinitron. They have 1 or 2 visible horizontal wires used to hold the aperture grille in place over the electron gun. This is a minor drawback of the Trinitron standard.
Erik.
I had a white line appear across my monitor after a pop-up offered to stop some control applet that was slowing my display and I accepted. I got tired of the white line after a day and I used Norton Go Back to revert my system to the state it was in two days earlier.
It worked beautifully and afterwords I needed only to copy back to my HD an Excel file that I had taken the precaution to save on a flash drive.

This might be a mediaplayer issue. Google on EHtray.exe and you will find a microsoft page with a number of filenames related to these kind of problems. Check by pressing CNRL-ALT-DEL and check if you see any of the filenames on the processes tab. Than stop the file and see if the black line disappears.
