Blows fuse when you plug power in, it is not

You have a short somewhere on the board. Try isolating parts of the board by unplugging harnesses one at a time until the fuses stop blowing. Eventually you may pinpoint the location of the short. Visually inspect the board with a magnifying glass to see if any components are touching or are broken. You may need to use a multi meter to test some components that are not visual shorts. Appears to be a short in tank circuit probably cause by a water leak in tank. These usually wear a rusty hole in the tank inside the cover and are not seen unless the thermostat covers are taken off. I would remove them and do a visual thoroughly. Anytime a fuse blows or a breaker trips is always a dead short unless you have a bad breaker. I would check those as well for vibrating, chattering noises, and/or smoking. If any of this persist, replace breaker. A melted heat element could trip them, but not usually for it leaves an open circuit instead of a shorted one.

Your TV is now in dead condition I should say. You should strart from its power supply regulation section itsef to rectify the fault. Look into the fuse, a glass fuse is there, in power supply board. If It has found blown, make sure that there is something short in either power supply regulator side, of on the other part of the printed circuit board.
You just place a fuse of same rating as used, if the fuse is blown. If the fule you installed newly also blows off, check first the retifier stalk for any leak. The stalk contains four diodes, even any one of them gets shorte, fule will blow up. If there is no leak in the retifier stalk, measure the voltage resistance across the main filter capacitor, a bulky one capacitor fitted in the power regulator section. If you see a full deflection on meter, it means that there is some dead short inside the power regualtor system.
Usually Sony uses STR regulated type power supplies, and some uses MOSFET [Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistors], as switching elements. Bothe of these types can be shorted, due to a high voltage spikes, or a sudden supply failure and restart.
Check out short test on these components, out of board, that is, desolder it out from the circuit board. You just resolder one by one and measure the resistance ad described above. Thus you can find out the exact component, that have a short. If any of these components shorted, check the entire power regulator section for any more component failure, like zener diode short, resistors opened, and so on. You should have a concept of soldering and a little knoledge in electronics. There will be a MOV [Metal Oxide Varistor] fitted across the power supply input, which look like a disc capacitor. it will get shorted when a certain voltage spike occures abvve its rated voltage, and apply a dead short at the supply stage. If any of them used, desolder it out and check for any leak, and is found leaky, replace it. It is used as a saftey measure, and without it the set will work fine.

hello, have you checked the glass fuse inside the ps3 it will been in the power supply , you will need a multimeter to test the fuse beware if you replace the fuse and it blows again then there a dead short someware i' e a bad component good luck

A blown fuse is a very common type of fault due to poor design very often triggered by power surges due to outages or lightning storms. However, the most likely parts to short are easily tested, usually in-circuit, with an ohmmeter and then easily removed to confirm.

Note that it *may be* useful to replace a fuse the *first* time it blows (though it would be better to do some basic checks for shorted components first as there is a small chance that having a fuse blow the second time could result in additional damage which would further complicate the troubleshooting process). If the circuit breaker was tripped, more likely the fuse inside the TV power supply might also be blown. If that is the case there might be a short circuit in the power supply components, more likely on a diode or transistor/mosfet.

This fuse supplies power to the car chassis components, if it blows you have a dead short and a really big one in the main harness, have you had any elec work done prior to this fuse blowing?

hi there, there is a shorted electronic parts at your power supply, fuse allways blows means a shorted diode, regulator and a transistor. it should be replace, do some testing and replace the defective parts. ty

Sounds like the power surge may have blown the fuse in the TV. You can replace the fuse and see if that works. If not, more damage to the power supply unit may have occurred.
