I accidentally broke my car charger adapter for my Magellan roadmate 1340. The battery is now dead. Can I use my USB and connect it to my computer to charge the gps?
Should be able to so long as it is set up for it, plug it in and see if the power light comes on, then leave it for an hour, at that time see if you can turn the unit on. You will at this point have your answer to your question. Make sure the computer is on though. (i know, but i didn't put that in one time and i got a nasty message from somebody, so now i put it in.)

There is no power light on the Magellan 1340--so how would you know if it's charging? I'm curious to see if this worked for prettyuneek.
I just found my own answer on Magellan's website. The answer is yes, you can charge your Magellan Roadmate 1340 by connecting it to your PC using your USB cord.
The Magellan 1340 only has one port (USB), therefore, the only means for charging the unit is via a USB plug.
There are Magellan units out there that have USB ports in addition to power plug adapter ports. Units that have both types of ports cannot use the USB port to recharge their units.
Note: Charging via your PC can take up to 12 hours vs. 4-6 hours using your PC.
