Hi,
is it possible to start the computer in safe-mode ( press F8 on boot )
If the computer just crashes, it might suggest a hardware problem with the card in question. can you try it in another computer?

check in your bios settings that the correct settings is enabled if its pci or agp, maybe its some thing like this. hope this helps. also remove your drivers before your take out the card to changed it with another card, by add remove programnmes in control panel.
Try this, uninstall all your video drivers in Device Manager and shut the PC down. Remove your MX 420 and connect the monitor back to the onboard video ( or previous card ). Boot the PC and go into the BIOS. Make sure that you select PCI for the graphics option in the BIOS. You are not using it at this moment, but we want it to work when you do put your MX 420 back in. Now shut it down and put the MX 420 back in. When you boot and get the "New Hardware found' message, just cancel it and install the MX420 drivers.
NO NO NO! The 7900 is vastly superior to the 8500gt! the 8500gt is a low end budget card not suitable for demanding games- return it get rid of it, that is a massive step down form the 7900. Its likegoing from a 7900 to a 7600 or worse!
its a normal process when you installed a new Video Card. the only problem there is, if its not compatible with the chipset of your main board. it will create an error and slow down your system/computer later on. to check it, see the manual of your main board and find what its chipset.
