Jason: It would appear to be a timing fault...However, your car is On Board Diagnostic I (OBDI) and trouble codes that are stored can not be scanned...Is the trouble light on the dash lit? If a trouble code is stored...In the lower left passenger foot well is a blue connector...Under the carpet...Pull it down and short the two pins with a paper clip...Turn the ignition to on but don't start the engine...The light on the dash will blink out a two digit code...ie...4 Long...And 1 short=Code 41...I'll need that code to diagnose the fault...Lastly; do you have a multimeter? send a comment please...Guru...saailer
Is there a Security light on the dash? Does it come on when the engine stops? If so, it could be having trouble reading the ignition key code. You would need to have that checked by a dealership.
Does the Check Engine light come ON when this happens? Whenever the "Check Engine" light comes on, there is always a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) stored in the ECM (Engine Control Module). You'll need an OBDII (On-Board-Diagnostics) scanner to retrieve any codes recorded/set in ECM. Once you do this and let us know what, if any codes are set, then we can go from there.
