Acer LCD TV screen burn.

I left my TV switched for 2 hours MAX with the HD box switched OFF.
When I returned home the screen was showing a blue colour, and in the centre of the screen the words "No Signal" was displayed.
Switching ON the HD box to watch TV, in the centre of the screen the words "No Signal" can be faintly seen in a Red colour.
Could you please help me and advise me how I can rectify this problem.

Screen goes black, still have audio

I first changed the 220uf capacitor with no luck. I flipped the BURN switch to on and the set has been working great for a week now. Daughter left it on for about 20 hours overnight with no problem. Anybody have an idea what those 4 tiny switches are for? I have heard these type of switches called "dip switches". They are tiny white switches in a yellow block on the lower left side of the upper circuit board. The top one was labled 40", the next one down was labled 46", the 3rd one was 4 letters "EW" something I think, and then the bottom one was labled "BURN".

Cannot set screen width

Both the TV and the Cable box have Aspect(height/width) settings. You must confirme the setting on the cable box and then do the TV.

1. Set TV to Native, this should show image exactly as the cable box sends it.
2. change Aspect settings on the cable box until you get one that works
3. if you get a good one, then your OK. You will just need to find a setting between the 2 devices that work for you. Also, these settings may change automatically for the TV or cable box based on the channel

Thin blue line

I am a Sharp Servicing Technician. You posted this before. Ive got the same model TV as you do LC46D62U. I think the line you are experiencing is simply the broadcast. I notice it on some HD shows that broadcast the side bars. (Always on the Ellen Degeneres Show). Ive taken some picture.

1) Here's the line on the left that i experience
ec62e20.jpg

2) Later on in the broadcast, it goes away.
f7a108d.jpg

One way to check if its a TV problem or not. When the line shows up again, hit the MENU button on the remote. If the line appears to be "behind" the menu, then it is simply the broadcast.
a6f48e8.jpg

If the line appears to be "on top" of the menu or shows right through the menu, then it is a TV problem.

Im thinking the reason it takes hours for hte line to appear is because it only shows up on certain shows or certain HD broadcasts.

Sony KDF-42WE655 (LCD 42 inch)

I have the exact same problem with my 42" LCD HDTV. When I called Sony "customer support" they told me NOTHING. However, I began researching this issue and found out that Sony knows all about this problem. It's a part called the "Optical Block" and THEY are supposed to reimburse you for the repair! The claim form is on the Sony Website. Here's the link: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-home.pl?mdl=KF42WE610&LOC=3 Look inside the yellow box on the right and click on: Additional service coverage information for your TV (scribble / line pattern on screen) Hope this helps you!!

Screen is filled with a circular Red/Green/Blue pattern

The problem will be with the de-gausing circuit, this de-magnetises the tube when the set is switched on from cold, this is a fault you will need to get an engineer to look at ie, not a D.I.Y repair.
