It just unscrews CCW. If it has never been romoved it may be quite a task to get it loose. Do not loose the rubber gasket in the process of cleaning it. You will never get another one without buying the whole assy.

Blender glass jar is leaking at base

It will either be the rubber gasket (it goes between the glass jar and the blade assy) or it could be a worn bearing/bush around the chopping blade shaft. Replace either the gasket or the blade assy.

Leaks from the bottom of the glass jar. Bought a new gasket and it is worse than ever.

Are you sure you are installing the gasket correctly?

Leaks are usually the result of a misaligned or cross-threaded blender jar base or from the gasket being installed incorrectly. Make sure the gasket is installed between the blade assembly and the screw on base.

If this does not help, please reply or repost.

Blender does not blend, only buzzes. So I took the blender jar off the motor base and tried running it. It ran just fine. Put the jar back on the base and it only buzzed. Figured a piece of frozen fruit...

Smart move. The blade assembly is almost frozen and the motor does not have enough torque.. You need to remove the blade assembly and completely clean out the bearing and reassemble after the Mr. clean operation. A lite dab of oil is also called for.

How do I fix or replace my kitchenaid blender blade KSB560BF (Polycarb Jar)? It's leaked thru the blade assembly.

Make sure the blade assembly is put together in the correct order. The blade needs to go through the gasket so that the order is pitcher glass, gasket, and metal blade base. Then the final plastic cap threaded onto the pitcher. If the gasket is not between the pitcher and the metal blade assembly, you will have leaks.
Also, check the gasket to be sure it's not cracked and that it doesn't have residue on it.
I hope this helps. If it does, please come back and rate my suggestion!

GE single serve blender 898679--need replacement plastic gasket for grinding jar. I am told by Walmart, where I purchased it, that I need to return it. I don't want to return it. The blade chewed up the...

I had the same issue. i took the gasket from the other blade to use with the blade i use everyday. one trick is, don't remove that gasket to clean it but make sure it stays in there. Just soak it and scrub it good, to make sure it stays seated in there.

If the gasket comes loose while you are grinding, the lid will come loose in the base and sometimes causes you to not be able to get the jar from the base. you have to turn the jar the opposite direction to get the lid to tighten up, then you can remove the jar from the base.

I am trying to get replacement jars since those plastic nobbies that run the blender have broken off. It is down to one of 3 nobbies, so it can't be run anymore. I mght just have to buy a brand new blender but it seems so wasteful.

Plastic pieces on glass jar and base are worn out and shaved down

I did the same thing. Order parts at thegourmetdepotco.com -- This problem is caused when you put the rubber gasket underneath the blade instead of above it. This causes two problems: 1. It lifts the teeth on the jar away from the teeth on the drive gear, which can grind down and break off the teeth, and 2. If the drive gear contacts the rubber gasket, it will melt the rim of the drive gear. In the future, to reassemble the jar after cleaning, first put the rubber gasket on the jar, then the blade, lastly screw on the base ring.

Unit began smoking and smelled hot

If this was a recent purchase for which you have a receipt, return it to the store immediately while you still can. If it is beyond the store's return policy, but purchased less than one year ago (most times you will still need a receipt), call Black and Decker to get in-warranty service/replacement.

In fact, call Black and Decker anyways - if the BL5000 was manufactured between Dec.2003 and Jan.2005 (highly possible if it was marked on clearance), the blade assemblies were recalled. here is the recall notice:
http://www.blackanddeckerappliances.net/safetyrecall2.html

If it is out of warranty, let the blender cool for an hour. Then remove the blender jar, plug in the base, and see if it will spin with nothing attached to it. See if it smokes if left on for 1 full minute - don't let it run longer than one minute.

If it doesn't smoke, let it cool for an additional 20 minutes. Then remove and then reassemble the blade assembly, gasket, etc., collar, jar, etc. Try blending. If it smokes while blending, order a new blade assembly and gasket (usually they come packaged together - around $20 or so). Once the new blade assembly/gasket arrives, try blending again. If it doesn't smoke, you're probably good to go. If it does smoke, you have a more serious issue.

All of this is going to take time and money if it is out-of-warranty. If you have deemed that the blender is worth more than $50 for a new one, let me know.

Waring blender - new blade

You can call Waring and they can send you a parts breakdown showing the order the parts need to be in. If you still have problems they can go over the assembly with you on the phone or direct you to a service center near you to help.

Leaking blender

Mine also leaked from day 1. I just read in the manual to first place the bottom and blade assembly on the counter, then seat the gasket around the blade assembly, making sure it is just under the lip of the blade piece (careful, you have to maneuver around the blades). Then place the jar on the assembly and screw in tightly. This worked and I have no more leaks.
This is different than other blenders where you place the gasket on the jar and then attach the bottom. It is a poor design, but after what I paid for it, I am glad to be able to use it and not just trash it.

Waring blender - new blade

I just figured it out. The key is you need to think in terms of keeping the blades and the large washers separate. Here's what you do.
Thread the blade through the glass and use the white rubber gaskets against the glass and the stainless gaskets against the hardware. Then tighten the whole enchilada to the blender with the main nut (that goes on the bottom outside of the blender). Then once that's nice and tight tighten the flange that catches the blender teeth to the remaining portion of the protruding threads. Make sure you use the copper colored gasket first then the stainless washer then the stainless flange. Tighten that real good and you should be good to go.
To check if you've done it right spin the flange. If the blades spin independent of everything else you're good to blend away!
