Try a different outlet to make sure the outlet you have it on is good or not.
If a different outlet didn't make it turn on then at that point, try another ac adapter for the Wii. If a different adapter doesn't work then you know the main board inside of the Wii is bad.
I have the same problem but I think we have to use the Nintendo WFC window, and there you can either create a room to play with friends or just play normally.
