Modem I have a time warner cable modem for tv, phone, and internet service. I have a splitter to hook cables to the tv and computer. With this setup my phone does not work. Once I remove the splitter and hook up the cable directly into the cable modem box the computer and phone work. Of course no tv with this setup. Could the splitter be bad? I can not get the computer to use the phone as a modem for sending faxes. Does not regonize modem attatched to cable modem box. Computer does not have phone jack on back to plug in the phone. Any way to fix thiese issues?

HI

A flashing ADSL light on the router means its not getting constant broadband signals. Make sure it is connected to the adsl filter without any extensions and the filter should be directly connect to the main phone socket and not to an extension socket. Also check if the phone socket has 1 or more than 1 ports on it. If it has two port its most likely a SSFP socket which does not require a filter as it is inbuit. If all the connections are fine try changing da filter.

SOURCE: I have a computer, a all-in-one printer, a phone

Okay... Let's see if I can help you out.

Yes, your cable modem should have a phone jack on it. Are you sure it's a modem and not a router? Do you have phone service through your cable company? If so, your modem should be phone ready. Just checking..... :-)

The first thing you want to do is get your computer completely set up and ready to run (do not turn on yet). Just make sure all components are plugged in. Everything should be color coded and different sizes & shapes making it virtually impossible to cross anything accidentally. Your mouse and keyboard should be the only two components having the same kind of connection but they are color coded on the connectors and behind the computer too. No worries!!! :-)

Next, get your modem hooked up. Plug in power cord and attach cable wire into the back of the modem. Next you'll need an Ethernet wire to go from the back of your modem to your computer. If you're not familliar with ethernet - it looks like a phone cord only bigger.

Next get your printer wires hooked up to your computer as per directions for your specific unit. Should be fairly simple.

Once you have everything connected, power up your modem. Once it's finished booting up, turn on your computer. Once your computer is completely finished booting up, Turn on your all-in-one. Your computer should now be showing...Found New Hardware. Follow on screen prompts.

I hope this info was helpful to you. If you do need further assistance don't hesitate to ask. If needed, I'll give you my # so I can walk you through it over the phone.

Good Luck!

NetGear Gateway Access Problem

No to warner's locking the modem. 192.168.0.1 is the correct address for accessing the options within the modem. incidentally the Motorola wireless modem works better. Go on line to Netgear technical service and they will guide you through the task of setting up the system.

What is the Time Warner modem? Make, Model? If you have a Ethernet port RJ45 connect the wireless device via a ethernet cable. You may need a splitter if there is only one Ethernet RJ45 port. Example: http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-RJ45-Splitter-Cable-Adapter/dp/B00009XSZE

Connection issue

Hi! I believe your having some issue with your router and I will be more than glad to assist you in this concern..Time warner cable is your isp and if the computer is connected directly to the modem, you have a perfect internet connection but if you are going to connect the cable from your modem to the router and you connect your computer to port 1 to 4 of your router it will not give u an internet connection. This is what we are going to do.
1. connect your computer that can get an internet connecttion thru time warner cable to the router on port1.
2. pull up a browser and type in the default gateway of the router, to check the default gateway of the router, right click the network icon on the lower right of the task bar and click status and it will show the ip address, subnet and default gateway, ex the default gateway is 192.168.1.1, u are going to type in the default gateway ip address to the url of the browser.
3. It will ask u for the username and password, by default the username is admin and the password is 1234 or just leave it blank.
4. It will pop up the setup page of the router and you have to look for the setting for doing a mac clone, you need to clone the mac address of your pc that can connect to the internet thru time warner cable modem.
5. once its done, save the settings and on the internet connection settings, manualy configured it to auto-dhcp. save the settings.
6. once its done..unplg the power of the computer, router and modem.
7. cable connection should be, cable from the modem goes to the WAN port of the router and connect cable on port 1 of the router to your computer on the lan port.
8. Plug in 1st the power of the cable modem, once all lights are lit then plug in the power of the router, once all lights are solid on the router, like the power, WAN, u will notice that there is no light on the port1, computer is still off, once the computer is on port1 will lit, then power on the computer..once computer is completely boot up, pull up a browser and it should gives u an internet connection.
9. Once you have an internet connection, u can access again the setup page of the router to setup the wireless connection settings.
10. If you are going to connect another to the existing router that is conneted to the time warner cable. that is possible, but before u connect the 2nd router to the 1st router..
a. connect the 2nd router to a computer to set it up..you have to access the setup page of the 2nd router.
b. once you access the setup page, there is a menu for the lan settings that is for the router side. u need to change the 3 octet of the ip address of the 2nd router. ex your 1st router ip address is 192.168.1.1 and the 2nd router ip address is 192.168.1.1 to change the 3 octet of the 2nd route, the 2nd router ip address should be 192.168.2.1. then save the settings..
c. the router will reboot and need to access the setup page of the router by using the 192.168.2.1 and u can set the wireless connection settings.. once its done..
d. cable connection should be---cable from the time warner cable goes to the WAN port of the 1st router, connect a cable to port 4 of the 1st router going to the WAN port of the 2nd router.. this process is called cascading two routers on a network.. this should work.. good luck

I have Time Warner Cable for internet and Vontage cable for my phone thru my internet. I'm trying to connect a Linksys router for my wireless laptop. I also have a Netgear switch connected to Time Warner...

If you purchased a Linksys wireless roter then you shoul not need the switch anymore-
Try going directly from your time warner modem into the Interner/WAN port on the router and then plug your desktop computer and the vontage phone system into 2 of the ports on the router. After everything is hooked up you will probably need to power cycle for it all to work correctly.
Please power cycle in this order:

Reboot modem - then Router- then Vontage phone system.

Hope this helps

Internet Light keeps blinking - all others are out - No internet

HI,

Blinking green internet light is normal BUT you must check if theres any dsl outage in your area..You can contact your ISP for that.

But then maybe you can try this:

Turn your PC off > then you modem or router.. after 60 secs turn your modem or router ON first then your PC and check if you can go online.

If you called your internet service provider {ISP} and no reported outage let me know and we'l solution for that.

Keep me posted.

Cheers.
