Those 2 items are "mutually exclusive". Take your 2616 phone and plug it in somewhere else and you'll see why. Unless you have auto set relocation, you will, indeed, change the display name.

Programming is stored in the PBX, possibly an "Option 11c". http://www142.nortelnetworks.com/mdfs_app/techdoc/enterprise/cs1000/M125_40/pdf/NQZHZWQH.pdf

Start looking in the 70's for instructions.

In Windows 7, the logon screen usually contains a picture that you choose when setting up the computer and a default user name. Since I purchased my computer from Best Buy, the picture was already set and the user name was simply User.
Not very unique! The first thing I did when I got my computer was to change the user name and change my user picture. That is what I’ll explain in this article.
Change User Name in Windows 7First, click on Start and then Control Panel. Then click on User Accounts and Family Safety.

On the next screen, click on the User Accounts heading at the very top.

Finally, click on Change your account name to actually change the user name. If you want to change the user name for a different account, click on Manage another account.5a8fcb6.png
Now type in the new user name that you desire and click the Change button.

That’s it! Once you click Change, you’ll be back to the previous screen with a preview of the new login screen.

Change User Picture in Windows 7To change the user account picture, simply click on the Change your account picture link in the second step above.

You can either choose from the default pictures in Windows 7 or you can click the Browse for more pictures link. Once you have chosen the desired picture, click on the Change Picture button.
Change/Create User Password in Windows 7If you want to create a password for your user account or change the current password, click on the Change Windows password link.

If you don’t already have a password setup for your user account, you can click on the Create a Windows 7 password for your account link, otherwise you can click Change your password.

Bought a laptop of someone the make is a dell i will describe to you everything it has written on it top left hand corner it says Inspiron 6400 with a button next to it saying media direct in the bottom...

You are asking a whole lot here.
From what I understand, you are running Windows XP. The previous owner has not removed his name from the system.
You want your name to show up as a user.
You want the previous owner's info gone.

Do this:
Go to the control panel and to the Users icon. Create a new user (you) as an admin.
Now log off of Windows and log back on as you. Go back to the control panel and the users icon.
Click on the previous owner's name and choose "delete account." Do not save the data. Just choose delete.
This will delete the user and all his data.
This should do it for now.

M2616 display problem dark screen not showing

If it is caused by an incorrect contrast adjustment YES you can fix it.
Press "Program", then "0", then "2", then slowly repeat the "Left Arrow Key" and the display should lighten and become visible again, once satisfied with the contrast setting, press "Program". If you lighten it to far, press the "Right Arrow Key" to darken it again. If this does not work, it is a hardware fault and not repairable by a user.

I was recently given a Compaq EVO Desktop 500 series computer with monitor (about 6 years old but rarely used). The previous owner had died and his son just wanted to get rid of it. After setting it up and...

The problem your having is not related to the passwords located in the BIOS that you have changed. The password you will need is the one from the previous owner, that is if you want to access their copy of windows XP. Being as that is not an option, I would get into the BIOS screen again and switch the boot order to boot from CD first, then install the windows CD, not the HP restore disk. This process should take you to the installation screen for windows. Part of the install asks what to do with the hard drive, I would delete any partitions on the hard drive and do a full format, create the primary partition, then install windows on the clean hard drive. During the install you will be prompted to create your own user name.

I hope this helps,

Eric
