Grease build up around blade and where it attaches to base

Our Breville blender has grease build up around blade and underneath where it attaches to base. Do I need a new part or can I fix this myself by tightening something up?

  • Anonymous Mar 19, 2014

instructions state 'take the inner measuring cup and insert the two tabs on the blade assembly tool into the two grooves on the blade assembly' then turn clockwise. The cup does not snuggly fit into base as there are four grooves so a good grip is not possible and neither my husband or I can manage to turn the blade assembly.

Grease can only creep into the blender vase if the oil seal has worn out, or the blenders blade shaft is worn and wobbling. Try cleaning all parts in alcohol to soften the seals. Rebuild kits and replacement blades can be found here (http://www.brevilleusa.com/breville-parts/blending.html)

Making a high pitched noise while blending; is motor breaking down?

there are some Breville Blender troubleshooting tips here
http://brevilleusasupport.com/bbl550xl/troubleshooting . Tied in with that, a high pitched noise could come in from a few directions:

Some blenders will use reduction gears to get more torque and power out of a high RPM, lower power motor. If this is the case, the whine could be from the motor, though if you hadn't noticed before, that would not be reassuring.

Per the troubleshooting, check that the blade is firmly attached, and that the coupling from jug to base is firm. If there are gaps or loos spots, there can be buzzing or whining between sort-of-spinning parts and shafts or bolt threads.

Check the motor base for dried spilled-on margarita mix or marinara sauce or what have you. they try to seal this pretty tight in a blender, but it has to spin, so food spills can get in the gap and cause friction and resistance, which can in turn cause whining noises from parts not expecting the load. If you do any cleaning or poking there, make sure you unplug the blender first. Shocks are not fun.

likewise, make sure that blade rotates easily from turning the coupling on the outside of the jug. If not, the bearing may be siezed or contaminated. That you'd likely want to fix by replacement.

Hope this helps!

The blade has become VERY tight and will hardly turn. When I turn on the blender the motor strains to get it turning, and when it does it makes a horrible sound. I've stopped using it because I don't...

put a socket or a wrench on the nut in the middle of the blades, and hold the other set with a set of pliers, and, as the original poster said, it is reverse threaded.

Hello. I need two parts for my Breville Classic BlendMaster Model CBL-10. I need the removable centrally located inner lid and also the blade assembly features patented stainless steel twin cutting...

Breville CBL10 has been a fantastic appliance but now electrical section works at slow speed only so I will get rid of it, however the glass jug complete with lid, blade etc is still perfect. Does anyone need this part? I am in Rockhampton.

Breville blender won't turn on. The on light is flashing red instead of solid blue. Worked fine a few days ago.

FIXED IT - It's the screws on the bottom of the jar assembly, where the blades are attached. There are 4 Torx screws - star-shaped - and when these come loose over time the Blender will start to operate only sometimes. Eventually it will be never.
Tighten these four screws and everything will be fine!

Hand blender bottom shaft (blade attachment) leaks oily stuff

In the old days, there was a packing in certain places of certain applications.
Often it looked like a piece of string, usually a grayish color, as it often was impregnated with grease.
I would start with an automotive parts house, but it must be old and have old folks to help you, as young ones have no such experience.
You could also try a plumber, they used some packing string.
As a matter of fact, I have some in my plumbing repair parts, though I've no used it in 30 years.
You might have to use this each time you use the machine.
It should be not expensive.
God bless your efforts.

Breville blender bbl550 stopps after 5 seconds any setting

Mine does this as well... 5 seconds of operation and then OFF.
My guess is this is a fail safe where the blender is turning itself off to avoid overheating and what could potentially cause this overheating is the blender is struggling to turn the blades. What could cause this struggling of turning the blades I am guessing is a lack of oil in the blades rotating parts.
If you hold the circular blade part and turn it, you'll probably find that its hard to turn? Mine is... and I oiled it up a bit and found I got a bit more usage out of it... although only temporarily.
Ideally I need to pull it apart and oil it properly.

Breville 600XL not turning on

My BBL600XL stopped working because of a blown fuse. You need to remove the phillips and torx head screws out of the bottom. Then remove the base. There you will clearly see a fuse on the circuit board.

It appears to be a 10A 250V fuse.
