Magellan maestro 4000 no sound

this could be happening for a few reasons but the most common is that its probably not charging.

before checking anything else, plug your 4000 in to a known good charger, then press and hold the power button for up to ten seconds till it starts.

if that fails, its likely not charging

this is very common problem with this and many model magellans.


the following magellan 2000, 2200t, 2500, 3000, 3100, 3140, 4000, 4040, 4050 and the 6000 are known to have faulty dc connectors...if your magellan gps is not charging or will not power up, its most likely the dc power port...

make sure green light is on the car charger and let it plugged in for awhile, then hold the power button (upto ten seconds) until it starts..if that fails

Go into setting and check the volume controls. There is a mute button as well as a volume control.

I suggest you take it back to the seloloer before the warranty expires

you say the voice directions are not working, but does the voice work at all..like when you scroll back through the screens, it should say back ect ect. if the voice does not work at all, ck the speaker icon on the main map screen to see if its muted, indicated by a slash through the icon..if it is not on mute, go to the system folder the to the sound tab go in there and make sure its not muted in there, if it is, unmute it and restart the gps..its a common problem on these magellan if the battery is run to low or completly dead which causes more problems. if all else fails, do a hard reset

Contact Magellan customer service, yes I know there a pain but...

the one i have is 3 month old and im having the same problem, the audio is not working (magellan model 3225)

Don't buy a Magellan. There is little to no support, and their web based support redirects to no where useful for upgrades. I'd sell you my 4040, but can't in good conscience sell it to anyone.
