You mean the collector voltage on the Horz output transistor is 200 volts?

I would check this by removing the transistor and then measuring the voltage on the board (where the collector or center leg of the transistor is soldered to).

I don't know what kind of tv this is but you should see 130v or 135 volts.
RCA sets you should see 140v. If the voltage is too high replace the voltage regulator.

You should be careful as dangerous voltages are there, if red convergence is off a lot likely bad convergence chips. A lot of the chips will either be good when cold or even drift when hot.

Note that this is a older set and the twenty or so surface mounted caps in the digital convergence which store the adjustments may be failing---usually if good convergence when hot.

Fixed more than a few of these sets.

T.v. power up then shut off

Your set is in High Voltage Shutdown because 1 or 2 problems. If there was a color problem or Convergence problem before the set went out. You should first change out the converg. amps. If no colour problem then check 6810, 7801, 7802 replace with exact parts also look for bad caps high voltage [email protected] change all, power supply and defection board.

How to test Flyback Transformer Without taking it off the Board

a) Basically it has to be acted upon by a supply voltage of at least 95V

to work.

sample picture:

b) Of course, assuming the horizontal deflection oscillator works, same

with the horizontal drive and horizontal output transistor

sample of H out transistor

It would generate output voltages on the secondary terminals

and 200V line will be active sending voltages to the

Video Drive circuits. Of course high voltage will be generated

ranging to at least 30 KV and there will be voltages on the G2 of the CRT.

c) The easiest test point to look when it is oscillating, is the CRT heater

voltage, the heater lit when flyback is good ( mostly at night times when it

is dark ) and you can hear sounds, too ( if speaker is connected).

• Heater : marked with letter H and H1

• Green Arrow for the G2 voltage

d) Having a B+ voltage reading of 75 V or lesser ( primary pins )

indicates a bad or partially shorted flyback, assuming your

horizontal output transistor and power supply are good & OK.

Toshiba just will not turn on.

Have someone extract the board for you. Replace all high voltage caps [3 or 4]. The voltages are 160v and 250v, with microfarads of 1mf , 2.2mf or 4.7mf. If the cap temp is 85 degrees, replace with 105degrees. I believe this tv would be 8 or 10 years old. Therefore inspect every solder connection for a good ground. You must pay attention and look for these. Be patient and take your time, if you don't see a bad ground or specified electrolytic cap today, you will find it tommorrow. One more cap to check is the 200v 100mf. Yes all of the above are electrolytic caps. This weekend ad this to your honey do's!

Replacement for capacitor 120mf/200v

You can use anything from 100 to 150 uF (mf, or mfd) in over 98% of the applications. Most of these caps have a 20% tollerance in their uF value. If this cap is being used as a power supply filter cap, or a bypass cap, the value will not be critical.

As long as the voltage is greater than the required amount it is acceptable. A poplular value would be 100 uF / 250 V. I rarely see 120 uF caps in equipment.

A higher voltage cap will be physicaly larger. This can become a space issue when installing the replacement.

With the new cap, make sure that the polarity is corrent when doing the installation.

do you have heater voltage because if you are hearing high voltage you may need to replace a resistor and capacitor in the 200v circuit or you could possibly have a anode not seated right arcing on somthing or a bad flyback

POWERS DOWN AFTER 4 SEC

crt beam current too high causing shutdown as you know. Check cathode voltage of each cathode, normal levels depend on picture is around 130-150V. Missing 200V to crt board. Screen voltage problem normal 300-500V. Flyback or bad crt. ABL circuit problem. Jungle IC.

I have not encountered this problem but I can tell you what is happening. The switching power supply transformer might be arching. I would get a scematic for this set and begin to look at the voltages on the Power supply for proper functionality.
