The most likely cause is air trapped in the debris bag. Remove the bottom panel with bag. Submerge the cleaner and replace the bag underwater. Also see Smartpool's trouble shooting guide for further assistance. http://www.smartpool.com/website/manuals/NC51%20Troubleshooting.pdf

Zodiac G3 goes up the wall and floats upside down sucking air

  1. Air Leak: If there is an air leak in the system, the suction power may be affected, causing the cleaner to lose its grip on the pool surface and float towards the surface while sucking air. This can happen if there are loose connections or damaged parts like hoses or seals.
  2. Blockage: If there is a blockage in the cleaner's intake or hoses, it can disrupt the flow of water and lead to a loss of suction. As a result, the cleaner may struggle to maintain contact with the pool surface, causing it to float upside down while drawing in air.
  3. Insufficient Water Flow: Insufficient water flow through the pool's filtration system can also cause the Zodiac G3 to float upside down while taking in air. If the pump is not pushing enough water, the cleaner will struggle to navigate the pool and stay firmly attached to the walls or the floor.
  4. Defective Parts: It is possible that there could be a defect in the Zodiac G3's internal components, such as the diaphragm or the flow regulator. These defects may disrupt the cleaner's normal operation, causing it to float upside down and suck in air.
If you are experiencing this issue, it is recommended to check for any visible air leaks, blockages, or potential defects in the cleaner and its components. If the problem persists, contacting the manufacturer or a pool professional for assistance would be advisable.

Why won't it sink to the bottom?

Air trapped in the unit. They do not float unless air is trapped. Turn upside down under water to relieve trapped air.

I can't get surface skimmer to work

im not sure what or even how you mean "swims away" as properly intalled it has a bracket that holds to pool wall , no the most problem ive seen with these is they sink !! pulling it and bracket right to bottom , this is just an adjustment of water flow thru float skimmer vs side skimmer (normal)

Intex pool surface skimmer keeps floating up.

i solved this with a few fishing weights in bottom catch cup takes a little experiment (more/less) to get it floating just right but once you do it works all summer

Nitro N71 does not climb the walls of my Acrylic mosaic swimming pool. I fitted the replacement front and rear paddles with the foam wheels but this did not do the trick.

None of the robotic cleaners are going to climb that surface well. Off all the options out there the Aquabot with the foam brushes is likely your best option for an acrylic pool. The Dolphin version can have rings added to their brushes but that may not be enough. You may try to get a rental unit from a local shop or pool store to try out before committing to the purchase so you will know if it work before buying it.

Have a dolphin dX3- put it in the pool and it's floating; won't sink to the bottom. Pool water temp is 55 degrees.

the hose must be filled with water. Hold the hose up to where the water shoots into the pool and force all the air out of the hose line. The dolphin should sink.. Then connect the hose to the suction side

Hayward phantom will not float fully to the surface

If it has skimmed the top of the pool before try rearranging sections of the hose and make sure all sections of hose can rotate freely.
