Yes,you obtain high resolutions.
Do the following steps.
1. Open Display Settings by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, clicking Personalization, and then clicking Display Settings.
2. Under Resolution, move the slider to the resolution you want, and then click Apply.
You will need to click start, control panel, personalization, then display setting. Once your there a slider under resolution should have low at one end and high at the other end. The display resolution is based upon the driver information for your monitor. 1440x900 is a widescreen HD resolution so be sure to refer to documentation from the monitors manufature that this monitor will support such a resolution.
