Your cartridges have chips on them and a date i think. So, my guess is, that the printer is alarming you that the "ink expiration is near", because soon, the chip will not allow you to print anything, so you will have to buy new ones.
The only reset method I know is used for "ink system failure" (Reset the system by holding down the OK, Cancel, Black, and Color buttons down at the same time and turn the printer off. Keep holding the buttons down until the printer shuts off and then turn it back on. You will have to turn the printer off twice and then it will recalibrate). But you need to have new cartridges for that.

Hp officejet 4500 will not print from mac ibook g4

HP Officejet 4500 (G510) Series and 4500 (K710) Series All-in-One Printers - The All-in-One Does Not Pick Up or Feed Paper Issue The product does not pick up or feed paper from the paper tray. How to use the solutions in this document To resolve the issue, try each solution in this document in the order presented. c01733891.gif IMPORTANT : Each time you try a solution, try to print a self-test report to determine if the hardware is functioning correctly. To print a self-test report, use the steps in the following table. How to print a self-test report
  1. Load plain, white paper in the paper tray.
  2. Press and hold the Cancel button (c01235250.gif ) on the product control panel.
  3. While holding the Cancel button (c01235250.gif ), press the OK button (c01961874.gif ). The self-test report prints.

NOTE: Refer back to the steps in this table after attempting each solution. Solution one: Reset the All-in-One
  1. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.
  2. Wait 30 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the back of the product.
  4. Press the Power button (c01602202.gif ) to turn on the product.

  • If these steps resolved the issue , and the test page prints , there is no need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the issue persists , continue with the next solution.
  • If the test page does not print , continue with the next solution.
Solution two: Check the paper The condition of the paper or the amount of paper loaded might prevent the rollers from picking it up and feeding it through the product. Use the following steps to check the paper in the input tray.
  1. Remove any wrinkled or damaged paper from the input tray.
  2. Make sure that all the paper is the same size and type.
  3. Tap the stack of paper on a flat surface to align the edges.
  4. Make sure that the stack of paper contains from 10 to 25 sheets of paper.
NOTE: Do not overload the input tray. Make sure the stack of paper is shorter than the top of the paper width guide.
  5. Insert the stack of paper into the product, and then gently push the paper width guide snugly against the paper. Figure 1: Load paper c01970609.gif 1 - Load paper 2 - Adjust the paper width guide Illustration of loading paper and adjusting the paper width guide

  • If the issue persists , continue with the next solution.
  • If the test page does not print , continue with the next solution.
Solution three: Check the print settings The paper settings in the print driver must match the paper size and type loaded in the product. Use the following instructions to adjust the paper settings.
  1. In the software program you are printing from, click File .
  2. Click Print , and then click Setup , Properties , or Preferences .
NOTE: The specific options might vary depending on the software program.

  6. In the Basic Options pane, select More from the Paper type drop-down list.
  7. Select the type of paper that you loaded, and then click OK .

  8. Change any other print settings necessary, and then click OK .
  9. Click OK to print.
  10. Try to print a self-test report. See the steps on how to print a self-test report at the top of this document.

I am using quickbooks 2005 and am trying to print full page checks. I am getting a 'paper mismatch' error and cannot print my checks.

Welcome to FixYa.

Paper mismatch errors occur because the product scans the width of the envelope before printing. If the paper size setting in the printer driver does not match the paper actually loaded in the product, the product reports a 'Paper Mismatch' error.

How do you load your check in the printer?

Keep me posted.

Photo,s from printer come out greenish,it,s a HP c7180 photosmart !! self test diagnostic shows white stripes in Magenta ?heads have been cleaned

Don't have a solution, but a similar problem and maybe a work around. My prints on glossy paper come out with a strong red tinge if glossy paper is specified. Seems to work all right if plain paper is specified with glossy paper in tray. Was on chat and email and phone support with HP for about two days. Went through all tests and resets with them. No solution from them except an offer of a refurbished Model 309 for $200. It was on sale at Costco for $169 that same day. I didn't buy it as it is missing features on the C7180.

Note the extended self test shows the light magenta ink is not printing - but it does use ink and the ink drop counter shows it is using ink.

Try specifying plain paper when you print on glossy. Maybe our problems are related?

Load A4

A4 is for european size, if you are printing on a letter size this is a mismatched.
you need to change your files printer properties to A4 or letter size, or change your printer paper size.
better yet cancel this document and send it again , this time by checking the printer properties was set to your desired paper size

Paper jam when trying to print envelopes.

You need to make sure that your print sriver setting match the setting on the printer itself.

If setting are changed on the printer itself to envelopes then when you go to print click preferences button on print screen and look for a place to change paper type (usually defaulted to letter size.) Change paper type to envelpoes and click ok. Click ok again on print screen and it should print correctly.

Paper types must be configured the same on the device as well as the print driver installed on the computer.

Hope this helps

Word Settings for Printing Postcards

I found the fix!! Once you have your size settings typed into your page layout screen and applied to the document, click print. Once you select your printer, click on properties (or printer preferences) click on the features tab (the tab next to printing shortcuts) and go to the resizing options section. click on paper size bar and scroll down to custom. once in the screen, give the shortcut a name you'll recognize, type in your dimensions in the provided spaces click save. once you go back to the features screen, scroll back down to custom and select your shortcut that you just created and apply it to both the paper type and paper size. click ok and go back and click ok to print! Hope this makes sense..if not, go to HP's website and type in your product name, type paper mismatch in the keyword search bar and click ont the first link in the found section. It will give you the same step by step instructions....
