This Apex AT2708S was given to me after my son could no longer play video games on it due to the fact that the bottom "scroll" area is "below" the plastic frame of the TV. I do not know if a component in the TV has changed so that the picture has become "taller" from top to bottom or if some technical setting has been inadvertently changed. I understand there is a "technicians service menu" that can be accessed if I know the right codes to get into it. I would like to try adjusting the "vertical hold" on the set to see if I can bring the scroll area within the viewable area of the screen.

I have a similar problem. We inherited this TV from a family member. It appears that the 'resolution' is incorrect. By this I mean that the edges (top, bottom, and sides) run off the side of the TV while watching TV and playing the WII. When we have our digital satellite menu up, the edges appear to be squished. I'm able to get into the service menu, but I have no idea what any of the menu options are for and what I might need to change. Any help would be much appreciated! I have a similar problem. You cannot adjust the resolution in CRT TVs. Its not like a monitor that is compatible with a number of resolutions from a computer for example. CRT TVs resolution's dont work like that. They take an input usually from a composite, Svideo or coaxial source and display it on the screen.
When you say the picture is cut out is there a black bar on top/bottom/middle of the screen? In older CRT TVs that usually means a problem with the TV itself and would need to be taken in for repairs or replaced.
Yes,this tv is an analog tv,free air tv channels are all digital now.Tries walmart,Target stores, might still sell these digital converter boxes. Not,tries websites like Amazon.com,Ebay.com they still sell these converter boxes.
CHILD LOCK
The Child Lock feature prevents unauthorized viewing of the TV. To activate, press and hold the F key, and
then press MUTE. You should see a key symbol appear on the screen. This will lock out all remote functions
(except for Standby). To unlock the TV, press and hold the F key and press MUTE. This will unlock the TV.
Please note that the only way to activate or deactivate the Child Lock feature is via remote control - please
insure that it is stored securely.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary. ...
Hi.
You can buy new touch screens on Ebay and other web sites (tend to be cheaper on Ebay). You can also download instructions for installing the new screen. I have done it for my son's DS and it is surprisingly easy. You will need a special screwdriver to open up the Ds, but you can buy these - in fact often they come with the screen.
Is there a disc in the drive? If so, it sounds like your UMD drive (or disc) is damaged. Does it only happen with one game or with all your son's games?
